Ours is quite the opposite, but many have said the same as you and have gone on to clean the pipework and jet of rust pieces and found their's working a lot better

My cooker is really slow sometimes I have to prod him at least four times and that still dosnt work sometimes the only way I can get him to cook anything is offer him a can of beer, once lubricated I find mine makes the most delicious egg and bacon ;)
The oven in my 'van takes forever too :( And it's brand new so can't complain that the pipes are rusted. From what i've read on here they do take longer to cook anything.
And my cooker does need a can to lubricate before he will work - his excuse that he is on a campsite and it's just not the done thing to be BBQing without a can in his hand ;)

Although new it doesn't mean the jet can't be blocked - an over application of calortite or similar when jointing the pipework can cause the same problem as rust in an old pipeline - worth getting it checked

Tell me about it, the one we had in our old Ranger was ridiculously sloooooow, it was a nightmare. This one now is much better, but i think its accepted that it will take a bit longer
im glad in a way its not just mine then :) i tend to buy shopping what dosent need to cook in oven when we are at caravan thank god for microwaves . thanks everyone
I read in our manual that our cooker has a fail safe that won't let it light when the door is shut. Well it does let it light but doesn't seem to have a very good flame if I do that. I now open the door and press the ignition etc then close the door and the flame seems a lot better and cooks fine ! I might be imagining it though !
The oven I had in my old caravan was rubbish also took an absolute age to cook anything. The caravan I have now doesn't have one & I don't really miss not having it.
Our 2007 Swift Challenger had (I think) a Stoves oven which took about an hour to cook a tray of oven chips! We bought an extra oven shelf, but found that the lower shelf position was more or less useless.
However, our new Sterling has a Thetford (made by Spinflo) oven and that cooks much more efficiently than the Challenger's oven.
