I picked up a second hand 6 kg propane cylinder the other day.

If it's a Calor cylinder, it can be exchanged at one of their stockists which you can find from here, or if it's another brand, Flogas etc., at one of their distributors.

Check that the connection will fit your van's regulator, or the "pigtail" connector which goes to the regulator; there is a possibility that you may have a butane regulator, in which case you could exchange the cylinder for a butane one.

It says on the propane cylinder it is Super Gas.
I have looked it up and it is part of flo gas so i will take it to the nearest stockist and see what they say.

I'm fairly sure they'll exchange it for a 6kg propane or (if necessary) a 7kg butane one.

I too live in Camberley, and find most of the local calor stockists charge a fortune. Can you let me know how much you pay for the flogas - it might be worth switching.

Best local price for calor if you travel down the M3 anyway is go outdoors at Basingstoke. Failing that, the calor depot in Guildford.

This is just a thought - well kind of - it's basically the reason I use Calor and avoided other makes...

Most, if not all, campsites that sell gas sell Calor or Camping Gaz, rarely any of the cheaper brands, and to "refill" you need a Calor bottle to exchange.

One other point, there is often another reason why the cheaper brands are cheaper... is the 6kg bottle you have got marked as propane or is it butane - I seem to remember that the cheaper gas bottles used to have less gas per refill - although I may now be wrong, perhaps worth checking though.

I used to use flogas expecting it to be cheaper than calor and carried a spare of calor gas that I could exchange in an emergency.

When the emergency came I was quite surprised to discover that calor gas was cheaper than flo gas.

I now only use calor.

Farnborough tip let you have empty calor cylinders for a fiver if you ask nicely. Camberley tip don't.
