we have just come off a fantastic week at a little cl in dorset, this was our first time using a cl.,great site, lots of comunial aminaties including fixed gazebos,3 in total to share between 5 vans great ,only spoilt by certain caravaners placing their windbreaks closer and closer to 1 gazebo making you feel uncomfortable when using it,as they had more visitors the windbreaks got closer making it impossible to walk round the said gazebo is it me or is there always a certain click with people who use a one particular site regularly.
has anyboby had a similar experience or am i turning into victor meldrew.

Clearly this party should not have staked an individual claim to this gazebo but I don't understand why some people object to the use of windbreaks per se.
We use one (sometimes two. We only use it within the pitch we are entitled to. This does not make us unsociable. We use them to block the wind or often to create a barrier to stop others walking across our pitch.

Likewise. Though in our case also for a bit of privacy, however we still do smile, say hello, & generally pass the time of day with people who seem friendly sorts.

We use them on occasions, if it's windy - so I can lite the BBQ, or as millermicm said, to stop people walking on our pitch - this really pis*es me off
we use our,s to stop the dog barking every time someone walks past,it doesent stop you passing the time of day with fellow carvaner,s.

This terratorial behaviour is annoying! You go away to escape the rat race only to meet it head-on on some caravan sites! I also feel a bit threatened when you get somewhere and everyone seems to know each other and it is compulsory to stand in the middle of the field, telling every move you make on your holiday. There is aways someone loud and bubbly who is well-in with the owners. Also people with nine greyhounds who make firm requests for a good, wide pitch!
My hubby goes joining in, whilst I growl in the caravan. On our last trip he said "oh they are really nice people", but the nice people nicked the pegs from our awning before they went home!
Oh I long for peace...sigh....whinge...whinge.

I like windbreaks to keep dogs and autistic son safe, also stops people walking across your pitch and gives a bit of privacy when I want to sit falling asleep in the sunshine (when we have it) outside the van, have no problem with windbreaks at all as long as people keep them only on their pitch and not spread across to other pitches.

i toally understand windbreaks being a benefit but there sometimes snobby people who abuse theit windbreaks but its somthing that you should just ignore unless its something really taking the liberty
Totally appreciate them being used to keep kids safe, but some just do it for territory. I've seen caravan, awning, gazebo, windbreak, outdoor seating, dog on lead-tied to stump, bikes and car on one pitch. They forgot to have a barbecue area!
