My parents bought an island bed recently and got rid of it after 2 trips, as a previous poster said once the bedding is on it's extremely awkward to get round the sides and impossible to sit on the bed & bend down to put socks/slippers/shoes on.
I presume the transverse island bed will have more room at the sides and fine for the person sleeping next to the loo but not sure how practical it would be for the other person squeezing round, out of interest how long is the bed??
