Regarding Legionella.....

There is a setting on the programmer that, when turned on, will raise the temperature of the hot water (to the taps) to a high enough level to kill any bacteria. This kicks in at 2am every night, so pretty unlikely to result in you scalding yourself.

Surfer....you need to sit in the van for 30 minutes and carefully work through the manual to set up what you want to happen, it really is worth it.

Not all manufacturers fit all the options. Most UK vans only have 2kw available on electricity, goodness knows why, as EHU here is generally better than abroad.

Also, the amps limiting device is often not fitted, nor the battery back-up link, so it is worth checking.

You can buy extras from Alde to improve your system.

A helpful link but for some reason they do not explain the bottom row of icons and that is the part that were we are having an issue as never seem to be able to get the timer to work properly and also for it to re-set the temperature.

Surfer, if you cant find the instructions for the bottom row of icons I am sure I have a pdf of it at home if you want it. I'm accessing by phone at moment so not ideal for me to look for it just now.

For the 213 panel [cheaper one] the full guide is here:

http://www.alde.co.uk/downloads/alde_3010-213_user.pdf

This is a large multi language file, English is from page 12 and the "lower menu" bit from page 15. I printed that bit out for the van when I got mine as my van clears memory each time the cars hooked on. Not fitted a back up 12 V system yet.

The "Quick-start" guide for the basic settings [as on the video ref above] are here:

I have the instructions just trying to figure out the correct way to set up the timer as I must be doing something wrong. I was setting it to cool down to 18 at night at 11pm and then to warm up again at 6am, but was waking up cold as it was not heating. Circulation pump not working. I wonder where the thermostat is located.
Loads of other options but not sure what they are for.

Thermostat is in the controller itself, unless there is a remote sensor fitted. Remote one is a small round black thing about 15mm diameter which would be in a hole in a panel somewhere.

Each "extra" will add a wire to the controller. If you have only one wire you have no extras.

http://www.swiftgroup.co.uk/uploads/HandBooks/caravans/2012%20Tourer%20Owners%20Handbook/07%20Fitted%20Equipment.pdf

Page 111 here in the Swift handbook has a good explanation Surfer.

Work through it again carefully, you must, as you say, be doing something wrong. It is fiddly to set up, but once done it should be retained in the memory.

You put in the set-back time and temp, then the time to return to normal. Normal being the temp you have set on the top row. You also set it to "0" on the "day" and it does it every day the same.

I find it is better to think of the controller as a programmable thermostat rather than a timer as you cannot set it like an ordinary house CH timer.

The bottom row has several interesting features ,which are explained in the manual, but some require an additional sensor or connection to be fitted.

We have added a remote temp sensor, the battery back-up link, the overload monitoring/reducer, and the external start.

The amps to monitor are set in the bottom row, also the Legionella function, the "beep" when button pressed function, the clock settings, and the night set-back.

I have got the telemetric & temp sensor fitted on my heating, it is really good, You can warm the van up before you arrive ( if on Seasonal pitch,
And check the temp of the van and battery condistion while away from the van.
