They are 15 and 12. One is nearing 6ft tall and the other is about 5ft 8 and growing daily. In terms of weight they are over 60kg but possibly below 70kg still and I recognise that the 15 year old probably won't be coming with us for much longer. I've still got 3-4 years of the younger one joining us though and he'll be too long for the bed any day now.

I am 6' 4" and my wife is 6' 2".

Or wee caravan (see gallery) has 2 single beds, one of 6' 6" and one at 6' 3".

Okay, it is only a 2 berth and no use to the originator of this topic, but my point is that you do not need a large van just for large people.

Our stove, wash area, fridge and toilet are all fully accessable when the beds are made up and really, it is not space that is the criterion when fitting good sized beds into a caravan but design.

Due to health problems we are in the process of changing from the wee caravan to a folding camper. Again a unit that has decent sized beds.

It is absolutely a design issue.

I've been playing around with squared paper and I can make it work in terms of bed and washroom space. Inevitably you lose out somewhere and it's been the kitchen.

Having said that I don't really want a domestic sized fridge freezer or a built in microwave. One of the vans I've seen recently had a huge unit which as far as I could make out was for a tv. If that had been made 8 inches smaller then a full size bed would have fitted. I think I'm beginning to see where all the space is going in the newer layouts.

Obviously I need to buy a shell and built it myself by which time the kids will be well away from home
