My Electrolux fridge has always worked properly but when I arrived on site this week and switched on there was the sound of fluid bubbling around inside and then a strong smell like ammonia from the vents. I turned off the power at once but when I switch back on, the fluid noise starts again. I'm assuming that its broken but can anyone tell me if this problem is repairable or will I have to replace the fridge?

Replacement I'm afraid, and do it ASAP - as well as ammonia the system contains Hydrogen which is extremely inflammable (just needs a spark).

Thanks for all your replies. I will look for a replacement when I get home. I have isolated the gas and electric supplies to the fridge while we are still on holiday and we are borrowing some space in a friend's fridge. At least the weather is cooler!

I had exactly the same problem last year! Disgusting slimey bright green stuff coming from under the fridge. They have had a probelm with some units. I called them when I got home and they sent a reapir man straight round to my home address and it was repaired free of charge! The small is far from pleasant! Be careful it may leak on to carpets etc!
