Hi. I have a Quest Sandringham Elite awning with Quick Lock frame clamps (they look identical to the Dorema Easygrip system). They have been fine for almost 2 years, but on a recent camp at the Camping and Caravanning Club site at Normans Bay on the South coast the wind was gusting so hard that the fittings kept slipping. These fittings rely entirely on the friction between the plastic clamp and the metal pole, and it appears that this is insufficient under windy conditions. Have any other forum members had this problem, and have they found a cure?
Had a problem like that with the clamps slipping,an old caravaner told me it was due to a protective coating on the rail.I rubbed them with meths. any degreaser will do,and it seemed to work hope this might help.
from past experience only replacement clamps are the answer.not cheap.we have an old porch awning with the same problem.(not the same clamp) the answer to the problem was simple i fitted a hose clip behind the fitting after the tension has been made.only takes a second to screw in place and stops any slide backwards.see
we had a similar problem with ours so I bought some pole clamps like these (other makes are available). Once the frame is up I just tighten these in front of the quick release joint and no more slippage. They have so far stood up to strong winds in the New Forest and gales in Yorkshire. Total cost from a local shop less than a tenner.

Hose clips are ok until the screw head or the tang rips a hole in the awning - at least the replacement clamps are cheaper than a new awning
never had a problem as i make sure any protrusions are not able to cut into the awning as any excess is removed.used then for 5 years.
