This sounds really gruesome but has any of you ever had, or know of anyone who has had, a problem with bed bug? worse thing is we have only just bought the caravan and I'm sure its got them?
Not had the problem with any of my own beds or furnishings, but have read somewhere in a medical journal that the way to deal with bed bugs and dust mites is to vaccum thoroughly, then put the item into a plastic bag, seal it, and freeze it in your deep freeze, the only problem being finding one big enough to take a mattress!
Failing that, ring your local Rentokil operator and ask their advice on what sprays and treatments may be available to iradicate the little mites.

It makes me itch just thinking about it - this site had some natural remedies which may work http://www.grandmashomeremedies.com/bed-bugs.html people seam to be reporting results with steam cleaning, though in a caravan I think this should be done on a very warm dry day and as much outside the caravan as possible.
They also say cold for two weeks kills them so if we have a really cold winter again that may do the job for you!
I was bitten by bedbugs in a hotel in Greece. I didn't feel a thing and they left bite marks which swelled up to about three-quarters of an inch in diameter and itched like crazy. When the bites subsided they left scars that took twelve months to disappear. Bloody horrible.
They hop aboard suitcases and travel with you to your destination. They can lay in hibernation for up to 2 years. They can live on trains and the like as well as houses and hotels.
I thought we had them a year or so ago, paid to get the council in to spray the bedrooms, kids were getting bitten and i found one or two but couldn't find anything else. They live in surrounding furniture, floorboards, anywhere not just the mattresses.
don't shoot the messenger but will a good fly spray not kill them as i use this to get rid of flies ants, and wood beetles,spiders and any other creepy crawlies in the house?
