Could any one tell me the best porch awning to use in the winter i have looking at the starcamp futura 260 or 390 is there anyone that has one and what do you think would you use it in winter.
We have the Kamp Rally 260 which looks exactly the same ... !? We have used it in very wet and very windy weather and it has stood up to everything very well indeed. We have the rear poles, the tie down kit and the monsoon poles.
difference is though that particular awning is classed as a light weight porch awning so should technically be used for weekend use only.
if you do start using it for your main awning and some happens it can void your warranty as in majority of these awning if you read the small print any adverse weather they need to be taken down this includes the weather during the night time.
but out of the two i would personally go for a kampa rally any day of the week. we have had one outside on display for about two months (due to our fire, so not ideal like i was just saying) and ive not had to straighten it out or redrill into the floor, fantastic awning in my opinion
.......at the expense of becoming really boring and repetative....... now Jacksonsarley knows what's coming next........ here it comes....... what about considering a ........ Kampa Fiesta. Best? Click here then open your wallet and say 'help yourself'. Not cheap (about £620) but definitely the best winter porch.

I would go for the Kampa 390 as this has adjustable front legs. If you read the posts on this forum regarding sealing the awning down the side of the van then adjustable legs are a godsend. I have just purchased one for that very reason after discussions on this very forum with DSB amongst others.
Just got back from a week-end away and first use of the Kampa 390 awning. It is a first class awning, the material is much better and the expandable front legs will be a god send on uneven ground. The zips are also a much better quality than the other 2 types of this awning that I have tried. No need to pull tight to get a seal against the side of the van. All in all, money well spent on this one.
Do the zips on your 390 side doors open from the top as well as the bottom ? I understand from Kampa that the 390 zips do but the 260's don't and thought it a bit odd ! We have the 260 - the side zips only open from the bottom ! Apart from that we love it !
If I was buying a porch purely for winter use out of the two I would choose the smaller one, there is slightly less pegging to do, there is a smaller area of roof for the snow to collect on, and you are unlikely to spend much time sitting out it is likely to be a place to leave wet coats, take off mucky shoes, and dry down the dog ( if you have one ) than anything else.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

I wonder why the 260 zips don't then !? Your wifey is correct - it allows for a ventilation opening at the top without having to have the whole door open ! It's basic tent/awning design ! It's very irritating !
