Well after years of being a non tower, I booked my test a few weeks ago and passed first time with 2 minors, Still not gonna tow with OH in the car but at least now I can take the caravan somewhere with the kids and set up and things and she can come straight from work so we can make more of our weekends away.
Also the caravan has to go to Gateshead in a few weeks to have an additional bunk put in, and as OH had a c section 2 weeks ago with our daughter she isn't supposed to drive so I can take the caravan on my own now.
I was convinced I had failed but I did it,
still in shock,

Not really, I had 2 hours worth of tuition, but OH has been towing for the past 8 years and did her B and E a few years ago so she coached me a bit on what I needed to do and when we both started with a van we did the manoevering course at the C & CC club,
Hows your driving going Tigermouse,?

The driving's going fine thanks, loving every minute of it and I've hardly spent weekends at home since the beginning of May - think I've turned into a gypsy! lol I've been up to the Lakes, Norfolk twice, Anglesey twice, Shropshire, Derbyshire, North Wales, and a couple of weekends at a site fairly local. A couple of weekends ago I did the CC towing and manoeuvring course, I'm just hoping that I can tow my van without doing the B + E.

Thank you,
Since giving up work at the start of the year to be a full time stay at home dad and foster carer I have often thought if I towed I can take the van somewhere with the kids and now I can.
Very excited. I'll have a few practices first on my own though before I load the car up with the 4 kids and 3 dogs though! LOL

Well done you, I hope your car and van comes under the weight, I bet you can't wait to tow now.
Glad your driving is going well, feel free to call in for a coffee if your ever passing south birmingham,

Aw congratulations on passing what I've heard to be a nightmare of a test & also the gorgeous new addition to your family. I'm planning to go on the C&CC towing course as like you but a stay at home mum the school hol opportunities are limitless, but tbh its actually using the mover to get it off the drive and safely to the side of the road which bothers me most - I just know that with 2 young excited children on my own I would make mistakes somewhere!!!!!!
Thank you for the replies. Well i am actually going to tow today. My brother has bought a caravan but hasn't got a towcar yet so i have offered. Is only 20 minutes away but still good practice.
Mrs mop. The test comprises of reversing. Hitching and unhitching, a brake excercise and some safety questions all done off road at the VOSA test centre where lorries and buses go for tests and then its about 50 minutes drive on various roads. Unfortunately for me i took mine in gloucester which i have only been to a couple of times so had no clue where i was but in a way was a benefit as i had to concentrate more. I am pleased i have done it although don't think nedra is that happy about me taking out her pride and joy. Lol
