Well after passing my B & E test last week, I am doing my first ever solo tow tomorrow, Caravan is going up to geist in gateshead to have an additional bunk put in so a good 4.5 hours from here. So if you see a very nervous looking young-ish man in a silver sharan towing a giest on the M1 tomorrow it will be me,
I am taking my oldest dog Harvey Bear with me for company, I have sorted out his old dog harness he used to use in my smart car so he can sit in the front.
Car and v
an is all hithed up and waiting for me on the drive, will be alright pulling away as long as Nedra isn't watching I reckon.

LOL bobsbabes,
Just got reminded by Nedra it will be the furthest I have also ever driven, Been driving 10 years and the last time I drove for more than 2 hours at a time was about 9.5 years ago the first summer after I passed my test,
She's got her arse in her hands now as she wants to take the van but I have to keep reminding her she had a c section 20 days ago so really shouldn't be driving let alone towing a caravan

Thanks Wynnie,
All delivered safe and sound, I set off at 5:30 in the morning to avoid the nightmare of the M42 by the NEC.
Was a but anxious at first as it was very dark when I left and couldn't see the kerb very well in my mirrors so negotiating my way out of where we live to the main road was a bit stressful, was quite blowy when I got on the M1 and I dropped down to 50 and sat behind a lorry for a while. did get to 60 at some points and did a bit of overtaking but was quite happy to plod behind the lorries. Took me 4 and a half hours to get there with a few stops for coffee and for Harvey to have a wee,
He was shattered when we got back but did look quite anxious when we left the caravan and he hadn't had his holiday!
Got to collect it next friday, (with Harvey bear of course)
All in all was quite a successful first tow, although I definitely prefer being in the passenger seat but at least now have some confidence to take the kids and dogs away somewhere on my own now instead of waiting for Nedra to come back from work and take us.
I will not be towing to Pembrey October half term though i'll happily give the towing mirrors back to Nedra we're both happy that way LOL
