We have a 1994 Elddis 2 berth caravan and last year had it insured with the Clubcare(C&CC)insurance company it cost £63, have tried online for a quote and it has gone up to just under the £100 mark.
Any recommendations on insurance for older vans.
Thanks

hi our,s is about the same price, i dont think you will get insurance any cheaper.

You may want to try Caravanwise as they will insure older vans. We have our insurance with them and they seem very efficient and reasonable but we have not ever had to claim from them.
we have a coachman vip and its early 1990,s and ours is about £95 seems the standard rate everything is going up,but better having a bit extra to pay than none at all
We don't have any insurance on ours. It's covered pretty well by the vehicle insurance whilst being towed, but that's it. As the caravan didn't cost much it doesn't seem worth it, but yours might be a bit more expensive than ours !

Ours is fully covered by the Caravan Club as most car insurance only covers a van third party only so the van would not be insured at all, only damage to others.
When getting quotes on our older van online many of our quotes were around the £100 mark however with the online quote I put our phone number in and several companys phoned us with improved offeres on their online quote. We eventually went with sure term direct last year and then the caravan club this year as the caravan club beat sureterm by £8. first year insurance £88 second year down to £73 on our 1990 van.

zorro just found for thought we went to hendra 3 years ago and a van went up in flames, it also destroyed 2 more vans and damaged 3 cars i would hate to think what would happen if that was my van on fire and caused that damage if i had no insurance.
we had a folding camper then with no insurance ourselves

we now have a cheap van but it now has insurance
Cheers for that andyjack. We actually keep ours at home & I think our home insurance policy covers it whilst it's here (? need to check !)
It's a very peaceful rural location & the 'van's well out of sight anyway, but If it's only about £80 a year I'll look into insuring it though. I guess it could go up in flames or summat on a campsite ! You've made me review it ....

They would have had to claim from their own insurances for damage to their own vehicles & caravans. It is unlikely there would have been any comeback on the owner of the caravan that caught fire initially & even if they(or their insurances co's or the site)did decide to sue it would not have been cut & dried. there would need to be proof that the caravan owner was liable, ie had been negligent. Very difficult to find evidence when all thats left is a few charred bits.
