Hi folks
have a problem with the black 12n cable from van to car that does the indicators lights etc. It was working fine till someone decided to cut it in half!!!! Just wondered how easy it is to fit new 7 core cable from the van to the socket that plugs in the car.The socket wiring that plugs into the car isn't a major problem, its more connecting a piece of cable to the caravan really.Hope that all makes sense
Cheers Deano

in other words you want to replace the cable from the van to the car? camp stores do stock cable. just wire it in, the same way you take the cable off. make sure you wire it up in the same way,
------------- Roughing it in style at Calloose caravan and camping holiday park nr St Ives.(seasonal pitch)
Its not a hangover, its wine flu!
At the caravan end it should connect in to some sort of terminal block. If you trace it back then make a note of where each of the different colour connectors go (or take a photo)-it will be easy enough to buy a new length of 7 core cable and fit it.

Thats right Bill yes.Sorry if i was a bit confusing.

Hi marshy183, You may find your cable runs from plug right through to fuse box in van, if you cut it just inside of van, strip back all the wires and put them into terminal block, and run cable from plug to terminal block, and if some one decides to cut it again, its a simple matter to replace, you could also make up spare, all ready to connect.
------------- If everything runs smoothly then I must have done something wrong
If in Doubt Check it Out.
When my black cable came loose and trailed, causing it to wear through, I cut the damaged end off, and fed it back up into the gas locker, where I wired it into a new socket, fixed to the gas locker floor. Then I got a new length of cable, put a plug on one end, fitted this to the socket in the gas locker, and fed the other end back out of the locker and under the A frame as the original had been, Then I put a new plug on so it could be connected to the car as normal. This way, if the cable is damaged again, I can easily just access the length from the locker now to repair/ renew it.
Many thanks for the replies. I'm gonna do the repair as suggested this weekend.
Just for the record the van was parked at the top end of my garden admittedly in view of the passing public but all locked up etc for no more than 3/4s of an hour and the cable gets cut! Who when and why is unknown but nothing surprises me anymore. You'd have thought they would have cut the 12s cable too and made a real good job of it!!!!!! Excuse the sarcasm folks
thanks again Deano
