Hello All

I'm looking for feedback on Lunar Lexon Caravans. We've just been to the Earls Court show and really fancy the EB (end bedroom) model.

I notice they've fitted uprated tyres this year which to me suggests previous models may have had problems with blow outs.

I'd appreciate any feedback about Lunar in general, Lexon models especially and even better if it's about the EB. Any problems with stability, damp, guarantee work etc.

It's a big step up from a 16 year old van to a new one and we'd like to get it right.

Many Thanks (in anticipation)

Pat

Thanks Michael

I've got all the blurb from the Manufacturers.

I'm really after some customer experience now.

Thanks again

Well Pat I love my Lunar, its an Ultima, which is a dealer special from Robinsons of Chesterfield, based on the Solar model from 2002 with extras, it is a 5 berth with a double bed and bunk over in the rear bedroom which can be closed off by a door not a curtain. I find this layout suits my requirements as i use it mainly as a 2 berth leaving the rear bed made up most of the time , but then can use it as a 5 berth on the odd ocasion we take grandchildren with us. I have so far not had any problems with the van exept a broken lock on the wet locker flap, I think the A frame cover is a bit flimsey, and the front locker door hold up stay is very poor, apart from these I cant think of anything else that I am not happy about. I have not had to deal with Lunar themselves so far but to date have not met anyone who had anything to say bad about them . So if you liked what you saw I would say go for it. Good luck whatever you decide.

Hi Pat,

we love our Lunar too! we got the twin dinette Quasar 525 2004 model in august this year. |Think its a fantastic caravan, lightweight for the size and very well made. The only thing i will say is that we had a few teething problems with ours, ie...elec sockets not working and ceiling light needing replacement, but from reading other posts on here it seems to be common to have small problems with brand new vans.

The Lexon was a contender for us too but the weight would have been just that bit too much for our car, lovely van, very simlar inside to ours.

good luck with whatever you decide

Ian (webmaster) has an EB and its luvverly!!  I'd love one, but only have the poor man's version .  They are quite pricey though, compared to other makes, and you'll need quite a heavy vehicle to tow it.

I'm all jelous now, lol!!

Thanks Tone, Tina and Rizz ;o

I'm not too bothered about teething problems etc as long as they get sorted, mainly worried about damp, delamination etc.

We've had our current Lunar from new (16 years old now) and it's certainly given good service but want to check on the current situation. We had damp in the rear corner 2 years ago which cost us £500 for the dealer to fix. Having read some of the threads I wish I'd done it myself.

I also appreciate the weight (ours has an aluminium chassis) and being a bit older the gross weight is only 900kg's. I've no doubt the EB will slow us down a bit.

Regards

Pat

We've just bought the Lunar Lexon 640 - the one with the end bedroom and island bed.  Being a couple of large proportions, we opted for this model as there would be no climbing over the other to get out of bed and of course a permanently made bed.  Because of living on the south coast tourist run, we've opted to have the van stored all year round on a site in Devon rather than tow it, that way we can be there within an hour and a half of finishing work on Fridays.

Its a 2002 model, 21ft long and 7' 6" wide, immaculate condition, no kids, dogs or cigs!! The previous owners have traded it in and ordered the latest model for delivery next year.  So they must have been happy with it!!

I'll keep you posted on things, and would be interested in reading other Lexon owners comments.

we have recently bought a Lunar Lexon 640  (2004 ) with an island bed & love the thing but has anyone had problems with kitchen water supply .with ours the cold water tap starts off with great gusto then dies off to a slow pace ,i've asked the dealer & he says that the diameter of the taps is the problem  but i don't think so! the bathroom tap fills the kettle about 10 seconds quicker  .any ideas ?

there is a thread somewhere about this, no doubt someone will remember where it is.  Hope you love your 640 as much as we love ours.

I have a 2004 Lunar Lexon with the island bed and we don't have problems with the kitchen taps.  As a matter of fact we have not really had many issues with this van and they have been relatively minor.

The biggest drawback with twin axles is levelling on ground that slopes in all directions but we have always somehow managed.  Best is to ask for a reasonably level site when booking.

Wouldnt part with ours. Done my poor old back wonders too. We went to BMEC in Feb but couldnt se anything to make us change. If they only did a single axle Island Bed that may tempt me but not much else.

Hi

We just bought a new Lunar Zenith 6 2 weeks ago and it is great

Only need 4 berth but went for 6 berth as fixed bunks for kids is brill

Only been away one weekend so far (going away again this weekend) only small complaint was the heater when on electric only the blow heating is not that warm and needs to be on top setting etc and takes while to heat up but manual says to run gas at same time

Someone else posted to say the thought it was something to do with the thermostat

But great van, great pice and great weight

I think the heater is a common complaint on all Lunars.  We had the same problem on our CS.

We've got a 2003 EB and think it's wonderful apart from one or two small niggles.

When watching telly in the small overhead cubby hole the the support for your back (at the front windows) is uncomfortable.

Had a lot of problems with noseweight and spent ages getting it right.

The seals on the outside lockers particularly the underbed one lets in water.

Otherwise no other complaints.

The newer models have a better arrangement for the wardrobe.
