At the site where we are staying at half term we will be on a multi service pitch for the first time.  I've managed to now get my head around the water, waste & Coax cabling but when the pitch has Digital TV & Sky connectivity & our tv being an integrated freeview - I believe I can just plug that in.  However, if I wanted to use sky which we haven't used caravanning before would I need a dish or is the plugging in bit saving us the bother?  We have an extra box at home with card etc currently connected to the tv in the kitchen/diner if we were to take that and tune it in would it be worth it for a few days or will we be fiddling with setting it up for longer than it would be worth and then doing the same on our return. Im not too bothered but I do have two Nick JR mad kids!

Perhaps it would do them good to be away from the television for a week - there are plenty of other things for children to do on a campsite if the parents allow them to - the risks haven't changed in the last 100 or so years just parents awareness of them

As for the satellite, it shouldn't need retuning as you'll be using the same satellite (unless you want the local version of BBC1 & ITV1 etc or S4C rather than C$ if you're popping over to Wales - You will need to re-tune Freeview though - if it is available of course

Er thanks for that lecture - we aren't planning to sit inside all day with the curtains shut watching TV - thats not why we go caravanning, but as I will be on my own with them for most of the week there will be times when I need to keep them in one place whilst I do other things!

Thanks for the info though OH is away working this week and these things normally fall into his remit.

I must say i found it a bit of a lecture.

We have a TV with sky dish main reason our 2 and half year old can wake up at 6.30am and has one volume when she speaks (loud) so as a gesture to neighbours, the TV keeps her quiet until a reasonable hour, then the TV isnt used apart from the news or weather forecasts.

Just there is a place for modern technology, our still also run around play etc etc

If the site has Sky then they must have a dish.

You can take your own box and card and connect to their dish.

Connect you sky box to your tv with a scart lead.

You may need to check if you need a cable to connect your box to the site

connector. If this is the case which type of connectors you need on each end of the

cable.

It shouldnt take much to setup.
