They got in our van a few years ago and ate their way through a terylene sleeping bag (Melv's of course....).  Another chap at the same time wasnt so lucky, they ate his NR canvas awning.  I dont think they are choosy as to whether they like chocolate, nuts, seed, bread, cotton or polyester either. I havent a clue how they got in, everywhere was mouse proof too (allegedly), with mesh over all ventilation grilles etc. 

I'll certainly try the mothballs idea and a few traps as well

Why don't you try a good portion of poisend seed at each one of the steadies.

I caught a mouse the other day on a trap using chocolate, i tell you in the mice world this mouse must of been a dart thrower cause he had a belly and half on him. No wonder he was huge the greedy ba---d was treating himself to my hemp seed which i use for fishing.
