Hi David

What's not going up!

I helped the brother in law to shop around for a 2006 Bailey Pageant Champagne two weeks ago, 6 dealers all asked between £8.500 to £9.750, and all were in good condition, we negotiated the best one in mint condition  (but the dearest) down to £8,750 as he also had a PX, but he got a reasonable deal on that also.

All the dealers said that all the second hand Pageant range was fetching good second hand prices even though there are a lot coming onto the market due to existing Pageant owners upgrading to the Alu Tec Models, BUT also many still think the Pageant is the better built caravan and thousands of pounds cheaper! and if you want one 'buy now' as even the second hand prices will also go up after Christmas.

From what I've seen an equivalent Pegasus, which costs well over £2k more at present prices than the Sancerre did, does not compare favourably with the Pageant I have. A further hike of 2.5% will certainly make me look in the direction of Swift or Lunar for a replacement should there be sufficient of her majesty's drinking vouchers avialable to replace the current 'van in the next year or so.

I simply do not believe the extra cost of alu tec models represents good value for money unless you plan to park a mondeo on the roof, caravan in the arctic circle or hang on to your caravan for a decade or more.

I reckon Dave they used the Sancerre as a testbed for the new peggy layout (fixed bed end bath) and we got a really well equipped van at Pageant series 7 prices - ergo for once I dipped in!

I agree with much of this, Dave.  We are really happy with the Sancerre.  Can't see us changing for a while and when we do, I think it will be the same layout.

Hi Dave

I would hardley call exchanging a Mk 7 Pageant for an AluTec model an upgrade!

The Pageants are a far better build and reading many posts a lot less problems.

The day I decided earlier this year to go for a new GT 60 520/4 instead of paying thousands more for the AluTec Olympus was a good one!

We wouldn't swap our Sancerre for anything else, now! In fact, in half an hour, we shall be off to Anglesey and will be nice and cosy!

Have a good time SS.  We're off tomorrow to Kent in ours.  Fingers crossed for some reasonable weather.  Glad we got our Sancerre when we did..
