It's a Bailey Senator Wyoming, only went to have a look at another van we really liked and ended up buying this one instead! (not this actual one but same model):
I have a few questions if you don't mind?
How can I find out what size awning it takes?
Which is a good full size awning brand? (and which are not?)
Can anyone recommend a good insurers?
Is it worth joining CCC or CC? and which, if any, is best?
Do people take normal crockery or melamine?
Any tips for having dogs in the van? (I will be getting throws for the seating)
Is it worth getting a cover for the winter?
Which are the best chocks to get? (should I be embarassed I asked that?)
How can I find out what size awning it takes? either do as jusy says or piece of string from floor all way round rail and back to the floor will give you the measurements

Which are the best chocks to get? (should I be embarassed I asked that?) we just bought cheapy ones

Which is a good full size awning brand? (and which are not?) Isabella widely known as the rolls royce, Dorema & Bradcot both good we have Bradcot full awning & Isabella winter awning
Can anyone recommend a good insurers? We use Lifesure as they were the cheapest like for like (new for old) insurance but would probably go with Caravan Club next time simply because we have everything else with them

Congrats, shes a beauty! You've beat me to it. Am looking at mo until right one comes up. With regard to covering up and dogs...I understand your problems having two hairy monsters myself. I will get some covers when I eventually get a van. Read with interest Tunstallwoods post on camping equip as she was asking if there was a market for made covers/curtains. It might be worth having a chat there. I know I will when I get mine.
Although not sure if my retriever will be able to get on seats as shes getting on and very lazy so will probably have to have ramp fitted!!!!

(sad i know) My very understanding OH let us all sleep in it last night, we watched x factor with a glass of celebratory vino all snuggled up warm ! oh and by the way we were in the garden ha ha !
Hi Woofers and congrats on the new van.
We were at the same stage as you this time last year with our first van on the way and very nervous , have to say we learnt a massive amount on this board.
Can anyone recommend a good insurers?
We use Caravanguard , gave us a good price for the cover we get , never had to use them in anger as yet
Is it worth joining CCC or CC? and which, if any, is best?
We joined both this year but will ditch the c&cc this year as we have not use one of their sites since being members , used plenty of the CC sites and they are first class
Do people take normal crockery or melamine?
As seems the norm melamine except for our mugs
Any tips for having dogs in the van? (I will be getting throws for the seating)
When our dog comes with us we always put the porch awning up so we can wipe him down and dry him off before he comes in the van also good to keep his bed , food etc in
Does blown air make heating you sleepy?
No but the wine does :)
Do you still go away at this time of year?
We have used our van all through the year and had some great trips, even ventured to York the week before christmas to complete the shopping.
In winter we look for hard standing and EHU nice and dry no mud and you can have a mush heat as you want
Any general tips you'd care to share?
Take your time and dont let any body rush you whilst towing, i was nervous as hell at first but its water off a ducks back with a year under my belt.
get in to routine when hitching up , i do the outside , wifey does the inside and always check the skylights are secure.
When on site watch and learn from what other people are doing ,how they go about setting up , putting awnings up etc, the we learned from being nosey was unbelievable.
We use caravanguard but we have been thinking of changing our van. When we asked them for a quote for a new van they said they would insist on virtually every security device going including posts and tracking devices.
The caravan club insisted on using one device. We would use more than just a hitchlock.

We were talking last night and said the dogs won't go on the seats (don't mind them on the bed as its only our duvet cover)...........wonder how long that will last
