I have mine on one of those heavy weighted bases on top of the dashboard. Marvellous bit of kit (the base and the sat nav!).

Regards, Brian

I nearly bought one of those but decided it was too big!!

I got the 2000n which is much smaller and have positioned it low down near the cigarette lighter which means I don't have to keep removing it and it is less distracting. Don't really need the map, just the instructions.

You will find it is excellent when towing. Hasn't taken us up a narrow road yet but it doesn't always take you the shortest route.

We have BMW X3 and have now managed to get it into the box on the dashboard

by taking out the rubber liner and it just fits in nicely.

we have the S6000 lite which hasnt got the tv, we didnt need the tv and find the snooper a brilliant bit of kit, best sat nav we have ever bought speed camera's a bit dear but the traffics free, when you think you have to pay tom tom for the traffic and the speed camera's we thought this a good deal and we havent regretted it, tez says he can see it even across the the van, I normally keep an eye on the sat nav because sometimes it tells you to go down the wrong road, well tom tom did!!! and as I can see the screen so keep him on the right track, if you see what i mean!!

Would like a way to dwonload my POI's though as you can with tom tom but snooper says that i can send them to them and they would dod it but I cannot make my own poi's so have to find them on my smartphone instead ( I wanted a poi for Vets but they couldnt do it)

My tom tom is coming to the end of its days and thinking of replacing with a S2000. Anyone got any comments on the 2011 model? Seems to have a few new features.

If it delivers what it promises then I think it is not expensive.

TomToms may be cheaper [I have one] but updates are expensive and the TT Satnav is constantly out of date.

Well Johnks,

It did us, last year it was going to take us up a grass in the middle  lane about 8 feet wide. The we saw just round the corner BEFORE we took it and the hill was what we call straight up. Must of been designed for launching a rocket. Needless to say we do not rely on it totally, as I am the map reader & Bob the main driver. No comments please I am pretty good at my job a good sense of direction.

Apart from that we like it better than a lot of others we looked into.Used to be kept on top of dash when we had the small VW campervan but now in the Skoda below is it just fine hidden in the top glove away for snooping eyes our snooper

Hi, trishandtez, Got the Nuvi 765T,can load POI's if you down load thier POI loader, Website Pocket GPS world-SatNavs  ,give you free POI's and speed camera downloads, best to put the POI's on SD card if your satnav has a space for it, as satnav locks up if over 257 POI's installed on unit,

beenpark ,my Nuvi did same as your satnav, and was also showing me driving on right hand side of road, A master Reset cured it,  but you will lose all your favourits. If you do the reset, save your photos of any camp sites that you allocated to you favourites, put them back on your unit after reset.

Hi, If you have SD card,Take photos of say a picture of your favourite caravan site, put SD card into your unit (if there is slot for it), Go to your list of POI's  select the site from the list, select it and press go(as if getting directions) the site you selected will now be in the (Recently found) folder,Back to Main screen - select where to, Recently found, select the site and then save, it will ask for name to be saved as,type in info and save (saves into my favourites), Go into my favourites select the site and there you will be able to Edit any info or add photo, phone number, and change symbols realating to that site eg- change default square, to a caravan. this also can be done via the browse map or post code.Do same for all other site picturesyou need to add.  Only pictures that the satnav unit can take, is snapshot of the the unit screen and its co-ordinates,(mines can), your may not be able to take snapshots, But you may be able to display the pictures, If your unit can display pictures, you will have a picture viewer icon, in the tools menu screen.

IF You can show your unit as a folder on your computer, you can copy your picture into a folder named JPG and paste that into your unit. that should work ok. SD Card better as you can take it out and edit pictures, without messing about with the unit data.  Hope thats of help, let us know how you get on.

no idea how to do that as its me that has to. But I am not that good at using the darn thing but I am great at a map. So I do both which at times is just as well. We have also said Hello!  the the usual cowsDid not even know I could. But can I with one bought about 1 year ago or do I have to update something or other.? They do not have SD cards anymore. So it must mean updated via the net maybe

can I reset to only Britain instead of the EU as when I tried to update maps just now as its brought all things back to my  mind to do so. But it said the same as last year when I bought it "have no update maps as yet hopefully later date" a year has past and still no updates. But if I have to reset I do not mind as long as maps up to date. Unless of course they are okay for the UK anyway

Hi beanpark, sorry about mix up last post, No unit will not re-set to UK only,(re-set, only sets unit back to manufacturers settings and should clear any location problems), To re-set go to help menu in your unit, instructions there for your type of unit. If your unit was used as a display in shop, the satnav would have sent signal to Garmin when it was switched on,and that activetes the 60day period to register your unit,(If not done then it will not let you download up dates,(Thats what happened with mine, sales person neglected to inform me of that),Now have £99 life time up dates 4 per year. Full up date EU once per year and UK the rest. You will need to download POI downloader, and the web updater, from the Garmin website, register unit, make, model, serial number, name, address email address,(I have found the site hard to navigate),Do you have picture viewer in the tools menu of your unit, ( If not you will not be able to use pictures, unless unit automaticaly recognizes this and creates the picture viewer icon)

IF You can show your unit as a folder on your computer, That is when you connect unit to computer it may say you have new hardware, it will then show you a box with a way to show the unit every time you connect unit, If you scroll down the options till you come to show as a folder, select that, When it opens unit as folder, In that main folder, Make new folder name it JPG you can copy your picture from computer into that folder into your unit. that should work ok.    Hope thats of help, let us know how you get on.
