Im so excited!!  It's a 1993 Swift Challenger 490/5  its in good condition, just needs a few odd jobs done to make it perfect!!  :)

I have a few question though which I hope someone can kindly help me with...

I need to by a Truma ultraflow pump assemby (46040-01) which I have found quite cheaply on ebay. I have also got a 25l jerry can type water and waste container from my trailer tent. Will these be ok to use or do I really need to buy the aqua roll and waste hog type.

We will mainly be caravanning for long weekends and a couple of seperate one week trips during the school holidays.

Also over the winter I would really like to buy a awning. My manual says 'ground to ground awning channel size 9.04m / 28ft2ins'  Most of the awnings I have been looking at seem to be in a size - I think the size I need is 11 but please could someone clarify this for me - or else I could make an expensive mistake.

Many Thanks for your help!!

Gee x

the only silly question is the one you do not ask.

cant help you with awning thing but was thinking i cant see why you couldnt use your stuff from camping, maybe though it doesnt hold as much water as you might need if you are pumping water into the van when your doing washing up etc,ive seen lots of different set ups i suppose its up to you ,i think its a quantity thing but im sure i might be corrected by my other fellow caravanners!!,
congratulations on your new van and many happy weekends and holidays welcome to the gang

Congratualtions on your first Caravan.  Welcome to the world of Caravanners.  Sorry can't help with the Truma ultraflowpump.

Micheal's link should help with the Awning Question.

There is no need to have the aquaroll for water. (Just easier to move from water supply to van) as long as the pump can be inserted into a container that can be sealed by the dust cover.  Any type of waste water hog should do, but the Wastemaster is easier to move as it is on wheels.

Happy caravanning and enjoy the experience.

Don't know where I'm going but will be happy when I get there.
