I am collecting my new 'van early December. I am considering having Al-ko A T C system fitted. I had it on a previous Bailey Senator, and suppose it was good as a peace of mind thing. But is it worth the extra £450 to have it fitted. Looking forward to reading your comments.
Technically its very good but only has a part to play if the van encounters the onset of instability. If you are convinced this could never happen to you then it is money wasted.
I towed for over thirty years without ATC etc and only once got near this when an idiot entering from a slip road forced me to do an emergency swerve to avoid being impacted. Having been through that heart stopping experience we were the first in the queue when ATC became an option.
The evidence of overturned units we see and hear of on the traffic radio together with the stance underwriters take to ATC ought also to quite persuasive. Whilst many snakes will have been self inflicted I know how easy even the most careful can come to being in trouble.
Had it fitted to my Swift ... the 'van was not supplied with it as standard but a guy from Swift came up and fitted it prior to me collecting the 'van ... for the same price as it would have been to have it factory fitted.

Thanks for your replies, I have a well balenced outfit and am an experienced driver/tower. But as JTQU points out you never know what is round the next corner. Coachman are quoting £450 to fit when the 'van is being built.

Thanks for all your replies. I have decided to have ATC fitted. Been in touch with my dealer, who has contacted Coachman, and they will fit it for £450.

I had Al-KO fitted to my new Coachman 'Festival' recently. Have driven about 400 miles since and have not felt it yet. I just feel you cannot have enough safety features. Hopefully will never need it!
It's like insurance, if you need to use it it's cheap. If you do'nt use it it's expensive.
Our Olympus came with it factory fitted and in the 1,000+ miles I've towed it I've felt it kick in a couple of times when a coach thundered past me on the motorway.
