when we initially put the heater on it makes a terriblescreeching noise untill it warms up and recently will notwork at all first thing . once it can get going it runs noproblem all day long.

The short answer is the fan motor is worn out and needs replacing, at the moment I can replace it as part of a full overhaul and return the heater in A1 condition.

Due to an acute shortage of new motors, I'm unable to supply a motor only.

thanks to you all we are away in the van at present will contact you on return. actually heater is behaving well at present runs  quietly all day as long as its heated up with the gas fire on in  the morning for about an hour . then i turn off gas and  switch to electric. without gas warm up we have trouble.
