We have a 2009 lunar but the biggest annoyance in the bathroom is that there isn't anywhere to store our towels. There is one towel ring but if I put our bathtowels through that then the kids use them all as hand towels yuck!! I'd like to fit some sort of towel rack as we need storage for 4 or 5 bath towels, they aren't too heavy as they are all microfibre. I presume that anything carefully added (OHs pretty handy and a total perfectionist) internally to a partition wall wouldn't affect our warranty? The best space is probably the wall to the right as you enter bathroom does anyone have any idea how I could best use the space or seen anything suitable?
You might find all the partition walls are hollow so i would not try fixing towel rails they will in time fall off
my solution was a cheap plug in free standing electric towel rail that can be put anywhere. mine stands in the awning and has a very low power output cost about £12 from T J Hughes a few years back
Having just been in caravan - yes that partition wall is no good as its far too weak to take any weight. So it will need to go next to the the little box shelf unit next to mirror on the rear wall and as I wouldnt want to be drilling into a side wall it will have to be no wider than 13" and have suckers - any ideas anyone?? A cheapy plastic version of the type of shower shelf which takes rolled up towels would be perfect if I could get one narrow enough.
You can fix to the wallboards, on internal or external walls if you use the correct fittings. You need ones for thin hollow walls. There are some called Piranha that are good. Available from Homebase.
We use 4 of these. They hang over the top of our wardrobe doors in our bathroom. They have padding on the inside so they don't mark the wood. I'm not sure if you have anywhere to put them in your Lunar though :
In my van, in the shower i had a 22m plastic bar thats fits wall to wall with rubber ends on so it dosent mark the shower wall, The tube is sprung so it dont fall down, it presses against the shower walls. If you no what i mean,

Its not a hangover, its wine flu!
I fitted a heated towel rail but I glued painted wooden discs to the wallboards so as not to effect the warranty. The rail is hollow and is very light but is great for drying those towels. Here is some pics.
Hi there, thanks for the suggestions - I love the idea of a heated rail but I could only really have that if I could find one with a max width of 13" as the partition wall is literally like reinforced cardboard but thats a lovely neat job you did there though wizzo - there isn't a spare scrap of space to be putting one elsewhere in the van. I also don't really want to be storing the towels inside the shower as next year we are mostly on multi service pitches and will be using the onboard shower so we would have the problem of lumping the towels out to have a shower and then putting them all back in to dry but its certainly a good cheap idea for when we aren't using the shower though thanks! I think the sucker option is out as after reading reviews I don't think they would take to the board walls - so it would appear at the mo that my only option is to test something over the door or keep looking for something less than 13" wide
Wet towels are an absolute pain in caravans arent they! We all shower in the mornings, using a mixture of site facilities and van shower, and if the day is reasonable the towels then get hung outside to dry on one of those airers that hangs out of the van window, then put away in a locker. On wet days however they end up draped all over. We too only have one towel ring in our end bathroom, which has a handtowel on it for hand washing. There is nowhere else to hang towels in the van.
I love Wizzo's idea and it looks brilliant. Also saw one a forumite had fixed in his van bedroom that looked good. But like you Fiona, I cant find a single scrap of wall space where we could fit one in our van.

I had one of these in my campervan as well, very handy! Mine was a sprung shower rail, just pushed in, then let go - hey presto a rail for hanging things on. I think you can get them from B&Q.
Hi what I did I don't know if it will help you .I got an extending alloy shower curtain pole ,you can buy them anywhere they have rubber rings on the end so they won't do any damage .you twist it and pull it all apart then cut the poles near enough to the width that you want then put it back together again then you can expand between the two walls and twist and you have got a towel rail ,you could use more than one if you like.It is stable doesn't mark the walls and I take it down to travel,I always think if you attach anything to the inside of a caravan, when it is flexing when travelling it might cause some damage.
For years we have used two small shower curtain rails that fit across the shower cabinet and stay in place by friction.I think we bought them at Homebase.
If we need to use the shower, we just simply remove both rails, and refit them after shower use. This has served us very well.
