When we booked for our first weekend away at a local campsite I thought there may be 1 or 2 other caravans on site so was really surprised that the place was full with a mixture of caravans and motorhomes.
With so much talk of winter storage I thought the majority of people closed up their van for the winter and hunkered down until spring.
We only put our van away in January after we come back after being away for New Year. Our season begins in February, we have found that most sites are busy in the winter months.
I think it's an all year round thing now, especially at weekends, if you like small c.l sites I think it's different.
We book year on year for over the xmas period to make sure of a pitch on our chosen site.
You have to remember that during the 'off peak' months like now, alot of sites close so those hardy souls like us who go away have limited choice, hence why some sites are busier than you would expect. Modern vans are suitable to use all year round, so why not make the most of your investment. We are away twice between now and the New Year!
I too try & get away as much as i can what ever the season & also depends on mine & oh work patterns just came bak from a long weekend away & aready booked for the new year
cheers eddy & co
------------- WHY DOES SHE TELL ME EVERYTHING IS MY FAULT?
OH hasn't any holidays left otherwise as our caravan is on our drive we'd be away - the days are too short for us to get away for a weekend so our caravan is all wintered up until the end of March. We did consider putting it on a localish site for the winter so we could get some weekends out of it without all the set up but we were quoted £300 from 5th Nov - 5th Jan & we decided we just wouldn't get our moneys worth.
We bought a caravan this year after years of trailer tents and folding campers so we could go away all year round. Just had a lovely weekend at Clumber, the weather was lovely on Saturday and managed 2 good walks. Toasty warm at night we were too. have another booked in December and 2 weekends each for Jan and Feb. Only extreme weather will stop us, wouldn't risk it.
We've just got back from a weekend at Cirencester Park CC site which was lovely and peaceful. Really frosty on Monday morning. It was lovely.
I think you will find a lot of couples out in the winter, most families will give it a rest until the weather is more reasonable so that their little darlings can play outside. I'm not sure they appreciate being tucked up inside snug as a bug as much as us adults !
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
