To build your own will depend what weight you want. It will need alot of thought to scratch build one of your own design. On the other hand if you are going to copy one most of your problems will already have been solved.

I don't think the Seicento is approved for towing so you can't fit a towbar, but any small car that can be fitted with a towbar, Fiesta, Corsa, Clio, etc will tow a small teardrop.

I found this site that sells a towbar for the seicento, so one would hope it would be approved. Seicento Towbar
There are also quite a few plans on the internet for teardops, some are here: Plans

Fascinating plans Harpmaker but I think the building costs of "$50.00" ( as per 1934) may need updating a bit LOLOL

Ah! conflicting info. If you can fit a towbar you can tow a teardrop, looks like you would have to fit a detachable towbar as recent regs state that no part of numberplate can be obscured.

I'd keep max weight below 500kg tho. Summat like a diesel Fiesta would make a better towcar. You often find teardrops on ebay, it might be cheaper to buy one & do it up rather than build from scratch.

You could build your teardrop on a suitable trailer tent chassis. You can pick them up cheap on ebay with the tent bit damaged.

Boozybird good for you, I think these teardrops are great. Like classic cars they're so much nicer than modern ones. Do keep us informed how it goes & don't forget those pics

Looking forward to seeing the pics and the look on your other halfs face when its done. I'm renovating an old tornado, my brother in law keeps telling me to get shot but I'm enjoying the challenge.

Worra cracker You've done an excellent job David. I've been pondering on attempting it for a couple of years but haven't had the bottle. Seeing what you've achieved is inspiring. Thanks for sharing, great build.
