We have a 2004 Bailey Bordeaux and had a small issue with our water system when we last in it a few weeks ago. We have a sequence setting up where I do everything outside and the wife does everything inside. Anyway when I attached the whale pump to the water carrier it pumped fine and then I noticed that it was all coming back out through the drainage tap. Obviously I told the wife that she had not closed the drain properly although she had. The remedy was to open and close the tap a number of times and it then worked. I then noticed next to the drain tap is a white valve with a screw type cap. My 2 questions therefore are could the yellow drain tap be sticking which is why the water initially went straight in and out again, and secondly what does the white valve do?
thanks

Thanks Michael yes that is the drain tap that we have and I do suspect that it was sticking. I am curious as to what the white screw valve was at the side of it as well.

I had one of these valves stick. Showed the same syptoms as you describe. I didn't replace it just made sure that it had shut off correctly each time I operated it and haven't had a problem since.
The white valve is the pressure switch. This shuts off the pump when the tap /taps are closed. Sometimes it can be heard "cycling" this can be down to battery voltage that isnt constant or the valve itself might need a tweak.
In our van Ranger GT60 the adjustment for this valve is as follows:
With system primed close all taps, leave power supply on, tighten adjusting screw clockwise pump should now run, partly open one cold tap to allow water to flow, slowly loosen (anticlockwise) the adjusting screw until the switch starts to click, the switch will then be properly adjusted. Close the cold tap and the pump should go off.
Baileybear from recollection that is very much what it looked like. Is the adjustment of the pressure switch something that is documented in the handbook or is this your own acquired knowledge. Is this something I should mention to the engineer at the service in March?

The instructions are taken directly from my owners manual. If you are having trouble with the valve cycling or not shutting off correctly then yes mention it at your service. This should be checked as part of the service anyway. It is of course always useful to know how to adjust this because you never know when you might need to tweak this out on site. There is always a chance that the valve could be knocked or brushed against when rumaging (under the seats in my case) I occasionally have to tweak mine.
Its also worth checking that you dont have any kinked pipes going to or from the valve because this too can cause the valve to cycle or not switch the pump off correctly.
Hi, The yellow drain valve must be perfectly horizontal, if you close it past this point it will leak, the white valve you mention is the pressure switch for your water system and nothing to do with the draining sequence, this should have been set correctly at your last service. if it doesn't appear to be working properly then close all taps, turn the white knob clockwise until you here the pump start with the taps closed, when the pump kicks in then turn the knob anti clockwise until the pump stops then another 1/4 turn, it should work correctly.
