We have a thread on resolutions for 2011...so how about a reflection? What are your favourite caravanning memories of this past year?

I'll start you off

Whilst at the Sandringham CC site travelling over to Titchwell Marsh and seeing Bearded Tits for the first time in my life. Very exotic looking birds which don't look as British as they are.

Whilst at Loosehill CC site walking the Great Ridge on my 60th

Those gloriously hot days of May which saw us at Hanley Swan and walking the Malvern Beacons

Kate Rusby at the Malvern Theatre

The wonderully richly vivid colours of Autumn at the Chatsworth site in November....and the fish and chips at the site on a rainy Thursday...not to be missed

Wensleydale in April

The Jockey Wheel collapsing.......argh!

Snow in May at Grin Low!!!!!

Reversing perfectly onto a pitch at Hawes....completely square.......(no one was watching and that was sad!)

Tawny Owls in the middle of the night at Woodhall Spa

Our Schnauser getting out of the awning to chase after rabbits and having to go out trying to find her and the folks who kindly caught her so we got her back.

...........happy days

Phil

Walking the dog around the lakes at Longleat after tea when all the visitors have gone home, with fish rising and a Heron watching on one lake and the Hippos wallowing around on the other.Just a few Lions in the background to break the silence.

Sitting in the sun at Cofton watching everyone set up as we got there a day early.

Chatsworth in the snow in February.

Only just being able to hear the terrible singers in the clubhouse in Cornwall from our pitch while thinking we were so lucky not to be pitched any closer.

Being able to lend my caravan to a friend prior to them undergoing a major operation to remove cancerous growth and subsequent chemotherapy. Simply being able to provide them with a peaceful week away from everything was more rewarding to me than anything that I did myself.

Am I allowed to go back to Dec 09? Walking at Teversal in a blizzard, and building snowmen the following day. Road testing the firewok with a bottle of whisky supplied by fellow campers (good craic, that was - Feb 10). Sunrise at Verwood (May 10). Fellow marathon runners at Abbey Wood who calmed my nerves (more good craic April 10). Our new dog coming with us (a born caravanner, although he didn't know it Easter 10). Beach walks at Mersea and meeting new friends (Aug 10) Lots of lovely memories, and another year to look forward to - roll on Devizes Feb 11 and some weekends before!

Keep calm and go camping....

Not many trips this year due to back problem but had a lovely Autumn weekend at Broadway after op.

Also went to Cornwall for 2 weeks in August but had to use a wheelchair to get around so missed going to places and doing things I wanted to. Out of it now after op but a real eye opener. Will show a lot more consideration to wheelchair users in future.

Watching my 3.75 yr old Son learn to ride his bike whilst away at Whit at lady margarets park, chirk, and then some weeks later in brighton watching my daughter 12yrs take to a proper go kart for the first time, (dodgems excluded) All memories both me and the wife will never forget, Oh and now wondering how to fit a bike and go kart in the van (joking) just the bike(s).

Oh and finally retrieving the dog form windermere lake after she got stuck in the mud and was panicking.

Ah well heres to 2011 may they be just as good.

Spending the first 6 months researching and finding the perfect van for us!

July - picking up our van...... (so excited!!)

August - a week in the lakes when i proved to my teenagers there is life without the interenet!!!!

Aug/sept - our first rally

Oct - Nec show happily didn't see a new caravan that would of been better for us than ours!! Discovered the peace of CL sites - fab and a lovely frosty morning

Nov - a great long weekend in Chester pleased we went west avoided the snow! Extremly cold, our water & pump didn't freeze because we copied the idea on here and my soon to be husband adapted an old work coat!!!! got home on Monday then our snow arrived three days off work!

Dec - O/h managed to get c/c booking for Rowntree Park at easter, hopefully our first christmas in our caravan..... depending on the snow that's forecast.

2011 can't wait a full year of caravaning planned including our first trip to France for our honeymoon in May......very excited

Thanks for all the advice we've recieved - Merry Christmas to you all.

A wonderful 3 months touring Belgium, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Luxemburg, Switzerland and Holland.  You cannot beat it.

Sadly only had 10 days in neighbouring Norfolk in July as had to had a major Hysterectomy op in October with many hospital visits in between.

My special memories of this year are:

February - our 1st winter weekend away.  Gorgeous, crisp, sunny weather with lovely walks around Delamere Forest.

May - being a very proud mummy when our working type Cocker stayed by my side as I told her to despite her instincts to hunt the bunny that ran out of the undergrowth & sat staring at her in Oxfordshire.

July - the same Cocker ecaping from the awning & raiding a carrier bag full of bread that next door had left on the grass.  Thankfully, they found it very funny.  They were packing up & it was to be thrown away.

August - our 1st trip to France.  We're hooked even though DS (5 at the time) decided to fall & gash his eyebrow open on the last afternoon.  We now know that medical treatment for kids in France is excellent!

Husband's back went on the morning we were leaving Lucksall and I had to tow the van back for the first time.

Every weekend in the summer watching the sun rise in Malvern as the dog always needs a wee that early.

My husband saw a fantastic shooting star unfortunately I missed it as I was on the loo.

The dog escaping through the cable slot in the Montana and me running through a field (haven't done that in a while) to try and catch him.

The smell of hot tuna curry wafting around outside the tent and peoples noses twitching as they caught a sniff of it walking past.
