If the heater housing is split (as sounds likely), there is no simple or cheap repair, unless you can obtain one from a breakers.
There was a recent ad in the CC mag which was for the Cascade manufacturers offering a special deal on upgrading to the latest model, can`t remember the £ involved but may be worth a look - at least you end up with a new heater with a guarantee.
