On our last van we used to have a powder fire extinguisher.  I have read somewhere that caravans should be of the AFFF (foam) type.  I need to purchase one for our new van and I am not sure which to get.

Does it make much difference?

I think you need powder to work safely with electrical based fires; quite likely in a caravan.  The only problem with powder is it leaves an awful mess afterwards but that is the least of your worries if it has saved total destruction of your caravan. Don't forget a Fire Blanket to throw over the cooker and burning saucepans. Much cleaner and can be used as a shield to keep you away from the flames.

AFFF  ones are safe to 35kv as far as im aware so should be ok in a caravan or car.

whether they are any better than powder though ????

When I made the same enquiry in a shop the assistant very helpfully replied "it depends on what kind of fire you are starting"......should have asked on here!!!
