We got nearly £2000 more for our caravan than what the dealer offered us.
Top Barn is about 3 miles from where we live and never knew that they dealt in caravans over there. What sort fo warranty do they offer?

He says that on caravan finder he says 6 months, but when you buy from him if there is a genuine problem you can bring it back and he will look at it. I dont think you would have a problem, as he says he wants reccomendations and word of mouth , so his reputation is key for him.

Hi June, yes it is.  I drove down to Worcester today to look at the Abbey & even tho it's a great van, excellent condition etc... I just didn't 'feel the love'.  Same went for another 6 berth he had that was slightly more expensive.  With dark wood, dark carpets & dark fabrics they felt really closed in.  I did fall in love with the next one up tho & the price he's offered for ours against it is fantastic - not much less than we'd get with a private sale.

Have to say whether we end up buying this one or not, he's a great guy & has given some really good advice/pointers for potential tow cars too (we're towcar-less at the mo as OH sold his yesterday - very much quicker than expected!).

Go for it, especially if you're happy with the part ex price. Sure he will hold onto it until you have a vehicle with towbar again.

Surfer01, we're not far either and he does have a really nice selection. When we are ready to buy, we shall be going back to him first.

The difference between selling to a dealer and a private sale is about £2000 due to the fact that the dealer has to provide a warranty, service it before selling it, clean it, fix it, advertise it, and make a bit of profit at the end of the day. That's fairly reasonable isn't it ? I guess the difference could be less if you do a part exchange..... ?

We've pretty much decided to go for the 2007 Compass Magnum.  It's more than we really wanted to pay but because it's priced so reasonably & he's also giving such a great price for ours we could look elsewhere & end up with a van nowhere near as good as this one but be no better off financially either.

The extra it's costing we'll have to cover by finding other ways of cutting back/raising money.  I've identified about £500 worth of stuff we can get rid of on ebay & I think it's worth stretching a bit to have found such a perfect van at such a genuine dealership - a combination that doesn't seem to happen often!

Thanks June.  It's a gorgeous, gorgeous van - perfect for us in every way.  The only thing it needs is our stuff in the cupboards.  We'd be fools to let it slip away for the sake of a few quid.  OH hasn't even seen it (only pics) & I didn't even take a damp meter with me but we both feel really comfortable with it.  The damp meter can have a trip out when we go to do the exchange but I doubt it'll find anything worth bleeping for.
