Has anyone got or used one of these, and do they work ?
My local pound shop has loads of them in so I have just bought one to see how it goes.
Cheers

Never used one, but I understand these will only indicate the level of the liquified gas when the gas is actually being used, and therefore allowing the evaporation of the liquid and thus causing cooling at that point on the bottle.
I'm fairly sure this subject came up sometime last year (can't find it on Search though - perhaps someone will be able to locate the thread).

Mine was useless and I threw it away. Tip in Caravan magazine suggested pouring HOT water down cylinder side - gas part will be colder to touch than empty part of cyl. Have not tried this so not sure if it works.------------- Mike

if its calor weigh it and deduct the weight on the collar from the gross , much more accurate than the magnetic sticker or the gas flo gauge on the lite weight bottles.

I bought one a few years back and tried to use it on the 3.9 kilo cylinder that I use to use, but because of the shape not being straight all the way down like the 6kg. cylinders, the side curves at the bottom thus making impossible for the magnetic indicator to attach properly. I tried using it further up on the straight part but found it wasn't very good at all so ended up discarding it. I now use the 6kg. Calor lite cylinders which have a gauge built in at the top. The gauge registers green when the cylinder is full and slowly changes to red as the gas is consumed. This method is far better and find it really useful and more accurate than using a magnetic gas level indicator.

Like tonnee, I also carry a 4.5kg back up for when my 7kg bottle runs out. Just have to turn tap off other tap on and get a 7kg refill whenever
