HI

At moment we have milenco towing mirrors that have the 2 straps, these vibrate and obscure the actual car mirrors. I have a Citroen C5 estate reg 2003, would the Milenco Aero mirrors fit and if so are they any good ??

I have tried 3 different types of towing mirrors. One pair were manufactured specifically for the Vauxhall Zafira which were extremely good but the disadvantage was they didn't fit any other vehicle so when we changed to a Ford I bought some manufactured by Quest whereby the straps attached around the rear of the door mirror. Not very good at all so I splashed out and bought a pair of Milenco Aero mirrors and I can say that they were worth every penny. Easy to fit, easy to adjust and most of all they don't vibrate. Probably the best towing mirror on the market at present.

I didn't want towing mirrors as I've got on fine without them for donkeys years & never had anything other than standard mirrors. However, a mate warned me they were required on most combinations & not having them may just make me a target for being pulled over. We went to our local caravan dealers & bought a set of Milenco Aero mirrors, we have the teardrop shape ones. They're very good & very easy to fit. I've used them on our Espace & L200, they fit both of those so I'd hope they'll fit your vehicle.

Our dealer was very fair when I asked if they'd fit. He suggested I take them out to the car & find out. He couldn't be fairer than that.

I have these mirrors. I have never had any others to compare but I'm not that impressed with them. Mine certainly do vibrate which does blur the vision a little. However as I say I cant compare them to anything else so others may vibrate even more.

I have the Milenco Aero too. However, I do get vibration on them. Not sure why? Been meaning to try fixing them to the bottom of the mirror housing instead of my usual top fixing to see if that would make them any more stable.

Had a Vauxhall Vectra before with the shaped mirrors. However they were the best towing mirrors ever, just a shame they only fitted that car, and they don't make them to fit my mazda else I'd have the same again now.

I have the Millenco Aero mirrors too and have bought the extra long arms to get a better view down the sides of my van. Initially with the standard arms I mounted them with the longer side horizontally so that I could get maximum view rearward. Not good at all, too much vibration. I did find that mounting them vertically reduced the vibration dramatically. I still needed a better view down the side so fitted the longer arms, and success!

The longer arms mean that you can fix the mounting brackets as far apart as possible on the car mirror binacle therefore giving a more stable platform.

We bought a set last year, and was surpised at just how good they are. As already mentioned, they are very easy to fit and remove, and easy to adjust. They is some vibration, but not that it makes it dfficult to see what's behind, or that it becomes a distraction. Would recommend these every time!

What some people don't realise when fitting these type mirrors is that you have to fix the bar supports (that actually fix on the door mirror) as far away from each other as possible to eliminate the possibility of vibration. It's like holding a telescope with both hands near the eye piece and expecting the telescope to remain perfectly still. When you hold a telescope as normal with hands far away as possible it give a better chance of stability. I have seen people at meets with Milenco mirrors who have them ill fitted and when asked they confirm that they are disappinted because they vibrate. Having altering the set up of the mirrors for them they said that the mirrors were much more sturdy than previously. The only problem is with some 4x4's the mirror is not that wide due to them being manufactured vertically rather than horizontally like a saloon or estate car so the perfect set up is more difficult to achieve. I hope the telescope explanation helps to understand where I'm coming from on this and having an engineering background for 38 years I can asure that these towing mirrors are excellent. Put it this way, when I change the towcar I won't bother change the mirrors again because I know there's nothing out there that are better than the Milenco Aero mirrors at present.

I've got the Aero ones on a Peugeot 406 and I think they're excellent. As tango has said, have the fittings as far apart as possible, and make sure they're good and tight, and they should be fine.

We have the Aero mirrors and have used them on our old Peugeot 406 and currently on our Peugeot 4007. We're quite happy with them and have no plans to change them. They give a good view with a tiny bit of vibration. I'll make sure next time we use them that the fixings are as far apart as possible, can't remember if they are as far apart as possible at the moment.

Another vote for Milenco Aero Mirrors, I have the teardrop ones. They are far better than any other mirror I have tried.

One car I could not get them to fix securely onto was a 08 plate Zafira.  On that car I had to use a different Milenco mirror that strapped round the back of the mirror, but did not obscure the car mirror.

Lassie

I find that the curve on the top of the 4007 mirror limits how far apart you can get the clips, but most of the vibration I have (the vibration is only minimal though) is the actual car mirror amplified by the length of the arm & the magnifying part of the flat aero mirror.

Zafiral, yes you're right - now you've mentioned it! We haven't used the van since October and i couldn't picture how we fit it! We too get minimal vibration but not enought to cause a problem.

Car door mirrors have have various different contours and some have a straighter contour at the bottom rather than the top so you can always try fixing them upside down so basically the left goes on the right and visa versa and because you can fix the clamps further apart at the bottom it eliminates the possibilty of vibration. The further apart the clamps can be fitted, the better as Max-and-Paddy said, just make sure that you clamp them securely. By the way, the Milenco mirrors I use are the teardrop shape as well as I didn't mention this before but I bought mine second hand on Ebay as I was unsure like yourself at the start. I won the pair for £20 but collection was 45 miles away. I had a caravanning friend who collected them for me as he was only 10 miles away. After all, that's what caravanning is all about, sharing views and helping folk out.

We've just bought the Grand Aero mirrors and initially they vibrated but a bit of playing around with the mirrors and arm (we actually swapped the arms over as we wanted them the other way up) and they work a treat now!
