Went out and swapped our caravan today, not a brand new one but a very nice Elddis Whirlwind. Looks smart and from what I've read it should be a good buy.
Hopefully get it out on it's first run over Easter but the prices are so expensive, anyone planning any meets or know of any cheaper sites for the Midlands area during this period, would consider the East coast.
Already booked for Scarborough in May, can't wait to get away.
The C&CC sites are nice and you get a discount if over 55, also if you're a single camper. They have CS sites too which are cheaper and also DA meets which are usually cheap. Be warned though, the CS sites and DA meets may only have a tap and chem disposal.
I beleive the CC club has something similar as well, in their CL's.
Campsites everywhere seem to charge the highest rates for Bank Holidays, etc. I usually stay at home!
I would join both clubs to get the benefit of CLs and CSs, then you can see from their handbooks and websites which sites have electricity, loos and showers, if this is important to you. The Caravan Club does a midweek discount on their sites (half price pitch for Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday), and also 7 "just a tenner" sites, but these don't have facilities other than electricity. Where in the Midlands do you want to go?
Thanks everybody, we were in the C&CC some years ago but found this to be a bit of a "clique" and newcomers were not made as welcome as we would have liked, despite doing our best to join in. But that's perhaps something to be saved for another post sometime.
all sites up the price at easter ,and any bank hollidays ,i understand that the staff will get double time ,and expect ,too pay a little extra for this ,but some charge ,way over the top ,,
------------- May the roof of your camper
never fall in ,and the couple inside ,never fall out,

Completely agree, some CL's and CS'a are brilliant and such good value,
For families there are some great ones, we like the one attached to pubs as they sometimes have some play equipment for the kids or are in a village with a park! Always good for a cheap getaway
