Just a quick query.
Is there any recommended type of grease for the steadies, or can I just smear any old grease on them?
Many thanks

I use a tin of Spray White Gease from a company I used to work for, as it is waterproof.

Hi, I use spray on grease as it runs and can get to parts of the thread that i cant get to,(the steady worm housing).------------- If everything runs smoothly then I must have done something wrong
If in Doubt Check it Out.

Thought we were supposed to avoid grease as stones etc from the road can get stuck to it

Best way is to regularly spray the screw threads & joints with white lithium grease aerosol spray available from Halfords etc. This grease dries on the surface but retains its lubricity so is less prone to attracting dust & dirt.

That's the stuff Tentz, although I can't really see the point in using white grease to indicate if its been 'rubbed off' as each time it passes through the worm gear it is going to get thinned out. You certainly don't need huge dollops of the stuff, just a thin layer. I did try teflon grease for a while but it is a bit too thin, at least the stuff I tried was. ------------- 'A sure cure for sea-sickness is to sit under a tree'
