Hi again peeps, i have a powr touch motor mover from my last van,, i am thinking of fitting it to my new twin axle van,, will it be upto the job , opinions please.. Nige
Best bet would be to check with Powrtouch - however since they see the need to make a double axle version, I guess the answer is likely to be no, but posible they could sell you 2 further motors and a control box, rather than replace everything? Worth a call at least.
Installing just the single axle mover would (I expect) place a lot of resistance on the mover as the non-driven wheels would be scrubbing across the road surface all the time.
Thanks i kind of have the same thoughts ,could be a problem when trying to 180 or 360 it on the spot perhaps another thought i just had too, there is also a possibility that the gas shocks may be in the way of mounting the mover . thanks Nige
One of the other mover manufacturers does a replacement pcb for their single axle mover to allow it to work on twin axles. I think it does some sort of pulse power to help prevent the scrubbing, I will know more next week when I have a little outing to investigate. It might be worth checking with Powertouch to see if they do anything similar.

Cool,, now im going to try and get tech right here goes, when the mover was on the other van,, if i pressed the bottom left and the top right buttons at the same time, both motors would turn both wheels , so the van would turn anticlockwise on its own axis (if you get me) and anticlockwise if i press top left and bottom right buttons. my point being, if i only pressed one direction button i would get tyre scrub on the road , if i use the two opposing buttons,, no tyre scrub . , I know what i mean anyrode.. thinking about it in that way,, it could work pretty well , can you visualise what im wittering on about ?

YES, but it will not easily work like that on a twin.
I have seen a twin axle with only one mover fitted, i didnt seam to struggle at all, BUT i dont know wot it be like on steep hills and turning tight corners. but it managed the weight of the van on the flat site he was parking up, on grass.

It is not only one or two axels to consider but also weight. If your new TA is within the operating limit of the mover you should be ok but as you say rotation will involve only one axel being moved.
I have a TA with the four motor model fitted. If you go forwards or backwards all four wheels are driven by their motors. However when you rotate only one axel has the wheels turned by their motors, the other axel motors "pulse" to follow on.
Yes you can as long as your twin is still within the weight of the mover contact powrtch they will sell you new much larger rollers and a new controller I can say this as detonate as we did it on our van last year but then have now upgraded to all wheel as the turning circle is not very good and 360 is a big big circle even with all wheel nothing like your single axle
Did you fit to rear axle if so in maul from pwrtch they say to release weight from front axle with jockey wheel by lifting front if fitted to front lower jockey to release weight on rears makes turn better

I'll agree with that, on my old van i had the mover behind the wheels and raised the jockey wheel as high as it would go. Reduced the scubbing of the two front tyres and made turning easier.
My new van has a spare wheel carrier behind the rear wheels, so i had to put the mover on the front this time. Doesn't seem to work as well to me, despite lowering the front of the van as much as humanly possible!
