Hi All, Update on the curtain saga, Just back from Remnant Kings Glasgow, For the Velvet curtains £23.99 per mtr, Linning £3.99 per mtr, 6mtr of velvet and 6mtr linning £167.88. Cost ot make them up £23.99 per single curtain.Price to make up 8 curtains £191.92.Yes you read it correctly £191.92. Total Cost £350.80. think that was Vat inc. and thats not including the pop ons. Bought pair of ready made curtains at £35. 90X90 at Dunelm Mill, and linned, that are a good match, will take them round to neighbour and pay her to make them up. upside of to-day trip, I did find the exact colour in Velvet that were originaly made for van, and is 54" wide and can be bought material only,so if want to go that direction later know where to find it ant at 54"wide should not need 6 meters. Thanks again for all your help and info.

Glad you finally got sorted out John. That's a heck of a lot of cash to part with though to have curtains made but at least you can now make a binding agreement with your neighbour. You're now laughing all the way to the bank with the money you've saved with the neighbour in stitches as well. Lol.
Hi tango55, What shocked me was that was £24 to make each small curtain, But I was offered a discount, only £20 for each of the eight curtains. At most I would have thought £50 for the lot, and not £192. And me thinking that Pirates had all died out, Think I'll come out of retirement and start to make up curtains, at £23.99per curtain , and for a pair £48!!!!!, wonder how many people actually pay these extortionate prices.

That price to make up caravan curtains is ridiculous! Either that or I don't charge enough to make a complete set Perhaps I should put my prices up!
Glad you found something in the end!

You have found someone far closer to make them though and that's good!
How long would it take to make up 8 curtains? I'll guessing the rate charged is no more than any other service, plumber, car mechanic, whatever. Ready made curtains will be produced in China or Morocco, I guess.
Hi All, Tigermouse the place that was charging £24 for each of the small 8 curtains is Remnant Kings Glasgow, so if I had bought the 6 meters of Velvet, and linning and had them made up, would have cost £360, then need to get popons added.Mind you, they were going to give me a discount, and only charge £20 for each curtain to be made, (thought that was rather generous of them, and asked if they had financial department so I could apply for a mortgage), no wonder they call it rip of Brittin). So for any one buying a single set of curtains(made up by them) would cost £48 plus your material. I have came up against another set-back, the neighbour that did the alterations and sewing, has stopped doing any more work. Now need to look at the small market in Bellshill as they still do sewing and alterations. Failing that will clean dust of sewing machine and have a go myself.

Totaly agree, average price of meter of reasonably good material, £12,,Velvet £20 + not surprised they dont sell a lot of them, and they have to be ordered in for each new customer, them downward spiral high prices,no one buys, stop making ,lost art and skills.

I am in the process of making my curtains, 12 in all.
I had pair of 90x90 velvet curtains in house which were sent by catalogue when I ordered 48 x 90 and they were in sale, only charged for smaller ones, but had to order another smaller pair for my needs. Was going to use curtains for living room but changed colours so they didnt go. They are thermal backed so dont need to line. Ordered my popper tape online.
Just measure curtains from ones in van, worst bit is sewing tape on.
Hi Murphsmum, Got ready made will cut down, and if have to, will have a go at sewing them, It was madning to think that daughter had thrown out a pair of velvet curtains that belonged to wifes mother, she used to live in a flat in tower block where the windows were 8 feet high and 13 feet wide, hate to think what the cost of them would be at to-days prices £1000+.
