Yes!!!
At long last a fellow Eivissa owner
We have an ABI Eivissa 495b 5 berth 1996/1997 model with roof rack, rear ladder and cycle rack too. It also has the sun awning on the side and fixed bunks inside - I think they were a bit ahead of their time really as they have pale wood fittings and nice plain upholstery.
I've never ever seen another one - apart from once in a for sale ad.
We bought our in 1999.

I have some outside pics but they are on my lap top and am on OH's at the moment.

Also remembered tha we bought the Haynes manual for caravans way back when we first got the van (it's our first and only van) and it has an Eivissa in some of the illustration pictures

This is ours before it had it's spring clean the other week - the first owner removed all the decals (you can see where they had been)
Have you any pics of yours - especially if yours still has the decals on. We have afriend with a sign writting business who would make new ones for us if we know what they should look like.

UKCS meet is just people who post on here getting together and going to the same site at the same time.
If you have a look in meeting up and getting together peopel organise meets in different areas (some more than others)
The Chy Carne one is good fun - have a look under South West area and you will see the thread

We have (for one day more) an Eivissa 450. Great caravan, yes, and we carry two bikes on the back. With the bikes on the towbar loading is 70 kg, about right. It has the roofrack and the Fiamma wind-out side too, really useful. Tows well and doesn't need a stabiliser. Said to be 4 beds and it can be, but we have it with the end beds permanently down making a double which you don't have to convert to seats every morning. This was the main reason for getting the van.
The weak point is the flimsy front locker cover, fixed with a strip hinge and small weak screws into a wood strut in the bodywork. The plastic has split and been mended with pop rivets several times and now the screws will not hold the hinge piece properly.  We're just trading it in for a Hymer and have been offered only £1000- it's an insult!
Like the above, the decals have worn off!

hi there

yes the locker lid has only 3pop rivets holding it to the hinge, the two outside ones dont hold the lid now  so i too have to get a couple of new pop rivets put in to stop  it dropping, apart from that we love our eivissa.and yes £1000 is an insult and should get alot more than that private.

Hi
We really enjoyed reading about the Eivissa ABIs as we have one too and not seen any others. Does anyone know what the roof racks can be safely used for?

No idea! I've never seen any caravan, Eivissa or other, with stuff on the roof. Our Eivissa originally had protective wooden or plastic strips glued to the roof, but some had come away and I took the  rest off. Whatever you put on the roof, it shouldn't be heavy- our friend who does motorway rescue has seen caravans overturned partly due to poor loading-  travelling with the top shelves full of food cans, etc. On a roof the heightened centre of gravity due to a heavy load up there could cause instability. On site, perhaps you could stand on the roof to get a good view, say at a race meeting!

Hi there

nice to here from another eivissa owner

I have  just opened the owners handbook which came with the eivissa and there is a separate safety information sheet on the eivissa  roof rack.

The roof rack area can be loaded up to a maximum height of 300mm(11.81") with an evenly distributed payload of up to a maximum of 100kg (220.46 lbs) properly secured for towing puposes.

The weight of the items loaded to the roof rack area is part of the caravan allowable payload and is not an additional allowance.

The roof rack area has protective strips on the roof panelling but care must be takenwhen placing items on the area to avoid damage to the panelling, roof light etc.

Such items must be properly secured to ensure that they are not able to move.

 eivissa caravans- cycle rack

The cycle rack has a maximum permitted loading of 50 kg and the 50 kg allowance is incorporated within the stated ex-works weight of the caravan.

Ihope the information helps

Dave

Thank you for your replies, it was good to hear about the roof rack! We haven't ever used it,nor plan to, as it didn't seem a good idea, but it was interesting to hear your points and what the manual had to say! Many thanks

We also have an Eivissa, 5 berth, fixed bunks etc.  We have had it for over 11 years and have had many very happy holidays.  Just about to buy a motorhome to tour Europe in.

If anyone knows of someone interested in a fab, family friendly caravan, let me know!

When we bought ours we were told that it was produced in very limited numbers
The roof was strengthened so that you could sit up there whilst at Silverstone etc to watch the racing
The design featured many things that were ahead of its time aand you now find quite common but didn't way back then - like remove able carpets, light wood interior, outside BBQ point etc

Our decals were removed by its first (6 month) owner

Have to agree about the front locker too. We had to replace the lock on ours this summer and had related trouble finding one. It was only thanks to Pete a friend we met through this site that we could do it as he got us it from a friend who knew where to get ex ABI parts still
