Hi - really sorry if this is a stupid question.

I opened the caravan today and we had stupidly left sleeping bags and some other things in it over the winter.  Anyway, they have mildew/mould on them.  There were also a few black dots in the kitchen surface which wiped away easily.

Does this mean that I have a damp problem in the van, or is there some other explanation?

TIA

I don't think so sasamax. The lack of air circulation in the van whilst out of use, coupled with the huge amount of moisture in the air in our horrible wet winter weather is the most likely cause.

prob not.   but if its on many things a very through clean is needed and hoover. Bleach everywhere you can.  as the spore growth needs to be killed and esp the seats and curtains. also as its not good for the chest to sleep breathing it in.  dont panic just clean and hoover everything. and it should be fine.

Btw Lidl do a good  mould & mildew cleaner/remover which contains an inhibitor to help prevent regrowth. Maybe put some silica gel sachets around too.

Thank you very much - that's really good to hear.

I will get straight onto the cleaning, and make a trip to Lidl. I am quite worried about any lingering mould spores - particularly on the cushions and mattress - as I have young children (and am having a new baby soon as well) - any advice on tackling this to make sure the air is healthy would be very much appreciated.
