Help - I have relocated to sunny Dorset as I got a better job offer so have given up my house in Yorkshire. I have been living in my caravan since October but know that my insurance isn't adequate as it is only really for 'holiday' use. I am soon to upgrade to a newer van so will need to sort out better cover. Anyone out there know any companies who would cover me?? I am on a secure site and van is alarmed but I don't have a 'residential' address?
I presume you do have an adress of a relative/friend where you 'live' for the purposes of car registration/bank etc? Normal way is to insure your 'van from this address & then you are permanently 'touring'.
Drop this guy a line - bakers_cottage at btinternet.com (you'll have to replace the word 'at' for the squiggly symbol). He sold up last August and went full time in a touring caravan so he should be able ot give youy some advise and suggestions re insurance.

You will not be able to get insurance on a caravan if it is being used as permanent accommodation. There does ntos eem to be any way aroudn this however there is nothing stopping you using your work address and stating that the caravan is on a seasonal site.
How will they know if you are living in it permanently? As far as they are aware you are using it on a seasonal basis whether that is one night a month or 30 nights a month is irrelevant. This is what we did when we lived in our caravan for nearly 3 years.
