We've been looking at caravans for several months now and we keep changing our minds about which layout would suit us best. I think an end bedroom would be ideal as hubby is a tremendous snorer-the thought of us all bunched up together at one end is not good. I would also like a bathroom where the shower is in its own cubicle so that there's more room to move. Hubby likes the end bathrooms because they're so roomy, so do we have to compromise - end bathroom for space, with beds all together or end bedroom with small side toilet/shower.
I'm sure I've seen caravans with end bedroom and side toilet with separate shower cubicle on our travels. Is it Lunar that has that style? Can anyone recommend any others? We're looking for secondhand, lightweight, up to about £6000.
I feel qualified to answer this one LOL. We have changed from a fixed end bed to a side dinette and end bathroom with shower cubicle. SWMBO loves her bathroom. No more tramping to a shower block and unblocking the drain of hair and other bits.
Thanks for the link Michael - will be visiting it regularly. Jerry, we are happy to use site showers etc but I would like the space in the caravan for a quick freshen up and mainly to have space to get dressed etc. At the moment I get changed quickly in the awning of our FC which can be either baking hot or freezing cold depending on the time of day lol
Put hubby out in the awning and then he can snore as much as he wants Before purchasing anything check the the shower is big enough and you don't have to stand in the shower tray unless showering as they all seem to crack eventually. The shower on mine is plenty big enough for my svelte figure (in my dreams) but the lever tap for the water is at bum hight and I normally manage to accidentally adjust it with my posterior so that it goes hot or cold on me.

One of the advantages of the large end bathroom is that you just have to close the door and everything for changing is to hand and you don't have to draw lots of blinds before hand and gather your clean clothes up in advance - but I do hate communal facilities so it is ideal for me. But with a two berth I have to wear ear plugs as I too have a snoring husband which can be bloomin' nightmare in a caravan - I have to hide the carving knife sometimes !
I used earplugs before having children, Our youngest still comes with us so I won't use them until she's a bit older older. My oldest daughter once bashed hubby around the head with an empty plastic cola bottle when he was in full snore. She was wild through not being able to sleep because of his snoring & it was the first thing that came to hand!! Imagine how I feel after 26 years of it!
We also both snore and she has restless legs. Some nights it's like sleeping with the cast of Riverdance. When we had the fixed bed , she used it and I slept at the front. We used to have an Elddis Hurrican many years ago with a large end bathroom and she always said how much she missed it for getting dressed and showering etc. We changed our van last year from a fixed bed back to a side dinette and end bathroom (Swift Challenger 530) and now shes happy. She sleeps at the front and I sleep at the side. We can still hear each other a little, I wear ear plugs, but find it a good compromise. At home I start off with her but wake up most mornings in our spare room, having been banished during the night or I have got fed up being kicked.
She has never heard of it to be honest, however she has FM and is on medication for that so its highly unlikely that she would be prescribed it. We had a look on Wikipedia and one of the side effects can be Hypersexuality and a gambling addiction, so I am going to see if I can get it LOL
I have just changed the van to a fixed bed and side bathroom with a seperate toilet and shower. Don't pick it up till the end of the month though. OH wanted a fixed bed (I like the idea of going back to one too though) but I like having a sepearate shower as I spend most of my time either rallying or on no facility sites. Managed to find a van that has both and I still manage to get long front benches for when I have people round for a few after hour drinks. Its a Lunar Lexon ES and the only one I have seen with this layout.
Hi, I too suffer the infliction of a snoring husband! I recommend motorcycle earplugs, they are designed to keep your ears safe from wind noise, and keep out all but the most ferocious snoring. I use Lucy Dell Earplugs, see http://www.earplugsbypost.com/ and find the "Sparkplugs" very comfy and effective. Cheaper than a divorce and more convenient than a prison sentence lol
