We bought our bailey caravan and when changing the CRIS registration we were offered CRIS Xtra with the reasoning that Bailey put two security tags onto their caravans at manufacture and that the thieves knew where they are so this "extra" tag we shoud put in a different place for added security.
we have now recieved the tag, but CRIS cannot tell us where the manufacturer's tags are located. Obviously, we don't want to put our tag in the same place as it would be a pointless exercise and waste of the extra £££££££££
Has anyone else come across this and how did you get it sorted and decide where to locate your security tag?
you will not be able to obtain the location of the security tags, these have been added from 1998 production.i understood that CRIS extra was a paint on liquid containing all the details of the van in millions micro dots.may be wrong???
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
I emailed Bailey today. They advised that their tags are built during the manufacturing process and are not accessible by us. ( also the thieves so not sure CRIS were quite right telling us that?).
Bailey can only release there whereabouts to the police if a stolen vehicle is recovered for ID purposes.
They advised me to locate the tag almost anywhere as it wouldn't "clash" with theirs as we couldn't access it.
we too have the tiny micro-dots in glue which we put over the van in several places apparently in the instructions.
Makes me wonder if its all a bit much really.
What with that, potential mice infestation and burst pipes in the winter, verrucas and athletes foot infections in the showers, its hardly the relaxing past time I thought it would be................

Having bought it I guess the price is generated from the micro cris dots which are specifically made to your van's cris number and the electronic glass tag (which I understand is for models pre 2008 and you need to drill a hole and insert the tag into the hole and refill).
Post 2008 is a label tag which you just stick on somewhere appropriate.
The window sticker - yes possibly worthwhile?
tamper resistant labels - well if someone wants to nick the tv a sticker won't stop them though might stop them selling it on but maybe no-one cares about that?
Marker pen you can get anywhere.
In hindsight I am not sure we have much added security to that which was already on it because our van is 2009 and had the cris number on the windows and have since found out that bailey put the number internally at manufacture so not altogether sure we have gained a lot.
If there is nothing on the van though I would think these items in the kit are well worth the money for some peace of mind.
