Our is a close weave type Kampa brand, I just hang it over the washing line and hose it down with cold water. Any stubborn muddy marks I use soapy water and a floor scrubbing brush first to loosed the mud, then let it dry.
If you want to keep your groudsheet clean you should really clean it on site while it is still damp - take up the sheet take it outside turn it over sweep off any mud. Get on your hands and knees and wash it - I tend to use a specify cloth and and I do the same with the awning skirt. They look like new when I finished - if you leave it untill you get home the mud will stain and it is very hard to remove.

Give it a good soak in the bath - replace water several times - like Campingkev says. I have to say we don't wash ours very often - but we do tend to use hardstandings quite a bit these days. Even when we go on grass our Kampa Easytread doesn't seem to attract a lot of dirt. We even find after rain, when we take up the groundsheet, the underneath is relatively clean. For some reason dirt doesn't seem to stick too much on the Easytread. Some of the rubber coated breatheable groundsheets we have had in the past attract mud like a magnet (!!?? if you see what I mean). We do find the Easytread much better.

I have a Kampa groundsheet and do what 'Vectratot' above does. A Few worms got stuck in the back but were easily hosed off. The sooner the better before the mud dries out.
