were taking my little mobility scooter so if he has a sleep it will take me an hour to walk and sort the dogs out. I am sure they have seen sights wores at serviecs than a nutty middle aged woman on a pimped up mobility scooter walking whippets with wooly jumpers on at 4 am round the services lol. i will be awak as i cant sleep in the car and spend all my time watching hubby so hes ok. this stems from my dad passing out on a motorway towing the caravan lucky other than some dints on the van we were ok I new how to put the hand break on. since then i send any driver mad with my constant chatter and watching to make sure there ok. its no wonder i am a neverus passinger

With an experience like that i'm not surprised that you are a nervous passenger :(  Hope your Dad was ok?  Were you quite young when it happened?

We go to Perthshire, Scotland from Hertfordshire every other year for our holiday, the kids go on the train with my mum and dad so its just me, hubby, the 2 dogs and all the luggage and we have found that travelling overnight is the best way to travel :)   We both drive so that helps too.  But we do stop every 2 hours as i can only drive for that long before needing a wee or getting too tired plus the dogs are probably ready for a wee or just to stretch their legs.

They sleep most of the time and we take it in turns to sleep.  The roads are almost empty of traffic and we much prefer to be on the quiet roads in the dark than sat in traffic jams in the hot sunshine :)  Its also part of the holiday and dh and i enjoy the time together :)  We come back in the daytime but much prefer the journey up there :)

When we travel overnight from Scarborough to Devon or Cornwall, we start saturday night about 6.oopm,have a break at Strensham, then stop at Sedgemoor, get in the van and have a few hours sleep,at Sedgemoor you are not too close to the lorries so we are not disturbed, carry on about 9.00am,i find this way is not at all tiring.

no I was about 20 and had my babay dauter in the back of the car mum ws in teh car behined with my hubby. so they saw us going off the road into the barrier.  Thats the last time dad towed so for years after. it took someone with my dad driving his car with him being tipical victor meldrew lol and someone else following behined taking my mum lol 4 times a years. its a good job they only went to blackpool. but even now paying for the caravan and car insurace tax recovery extra for 6 weeks hols in teh same place every year they would have been better with a samll static they could have spent weeks at a time at and got there on the train no problem.  My mum and dad were definatly origanles lol
