I have just bought my first Caravan (Hate tents with a vencence). The caravan come with everything including the wheel clamp/lock however its a fiddly affair and I have a worry in trying to get the top bar above the wheel I will end up damaging the plastic wheel arch.... I have seen a few that look very simple and goto the ground only and not over the wheel top...can anyone recomend a decent one.......don't mind one bit paying however I could do with keeping both arms and legs.
What you need is an SAS wheel clamp. It doesn't go over the top, it locks on one of the wheel bolts then clamps round the rear side of the wheel and lies on the floor.

That's about the right price and extremely good for p & p costs as well. Make sure it comes with a box though as sometimes they will reduce the cost because it comes without a box. Ideal with a box for transporting in the caravan. I just bought one second hand off Ebay for £30 complete with box but collected it about 15 miles away so you could look for a used one if you can wait.
Well done Kev, you can't go wrong with an SAS or Milenco clamp as both are officially recognised by all touring caravan insurance companies. The SAS clamp is lighter than other clamps on the market though which is a bonus regarding the weight on the caravan payload. That's the main reason why I bought one plus I also found it frustrating with my old one like yours getting the bar over the top of the tyre especially if you have the older Coachman with the straight wheel arches instead of the standard curved type that follows the contour of the wheels.
