Tyron Bands are not necessary on a twin axle and would be a complete waste of money. We would never fit them on a single axle either. When we had a blow out on single axle van on M25 we had no problems what so ever. There has been many discussions on Tyron Bands on other Forums. One caravanner said "If they are so good why has no other company copied them" which is true.

We used a "honest" mobile caravan technician until we caught him out. We were having problems with the battery going flat so gave him the keys fo him to check out thew caravan.
After two weeks we phoned him to inquire if the issue had been resolved. He replied that he had our battery on charge and was just about to fit it in the caravan. I asked how was that possible as the battery was sitting on my kitchen floor being re-charged!
Silence. We no longer use his services.
As for the tyres, check the DOT number. The code is pretty simple. The three-digit code was used for tyres manufactured before 2000. So for example 1 7 6 means it was manufactured in the 17th week of 6th year of the decade. In this case it means 1986. For tyres manufactured in the 90's, the same code holds true but there is a little triangle after the DOT code. So for this example, a tyre manufactured in the 17th week of 1996 would have the code 176triangle
After 2000, the code was switched to a 4-digit code. Same rules apply, so for example 3 0 0 3 means the tyre was manufactured in the 30th week of 2003.
You will find many brand new caravans with tyres that are nearly three years old as they have been sitting on a shelf fo that period of time. The 6 year old guideline goes straight out the window!

I bought a trailerable boat that had 7 year old tyres with it,the tyres had been kept in a garage and showed no signs of cracking etc.i was towing the boat when i heard a noise so i stopped to find that the tyre had delaminated, all of the tread had gone it was only a baldy thing left,it also destroyed the wheel arch,so i bought a new tyre and went on,about 40 miles down the road,i heard the same noise, the other tyre had gone and wheel arch with it too.

I always change tyres at 5 years now and i also fill them with a sealant.
