It doesn't seem real, but after looking for over a year, we have finally bought a caravan!   Its an Elddis Magnum 505 (special edition based on the Avante)

Hubby & I were having trouble agreeing on a 'van because he was keen on the newer models but I was worried about finances. I'd set a price which I was happy with & we went to see one last week in that price range but although it was good condition & the dealer was eventually willing to put on motor mover & ALKO stabiliser for a good price it just didn't feel right so we walked away.

I saw the Elddis on the internet & looked at the details every day this week & as it ticked all our boxes hubby took yesterday afternoon off so we could go along for a look. We were left alone to have a good browse until we asked to speak to a sales rep. He immediately got the file when we asked to see damp report & service history. Then he came back to the caravan with us to talk us through all its bits & pieces. It comes with porch awning, motor mover, Winterhoff stabiliser, tv aerial, pots'n'pans & when he opened up the front locker even the salesman seemed surprised to see 2 x gas bottles (one looks new) EHU & brand new spare tyre.

We were really happy with all this so went back to the office to do the deal. They are having a special promotion this week so we were offered 3 years free servicing or £500 off the forecourt price. Deal done!!

We'll pick it up in about 2 weeks after its service & valet. After being on the receiving end of the hard sell at other dealerships this was so relaxing & we were given time to ask questions, talk between ourselves & had as much time as we needed & finally given the keys to spend some time in "our" caravan.

Looking forward to Easter which will probably be our first trip out!

Well done Homebird. Sounds like you got a really good van and deal!

Can I be nosy and ask which dealer you bought off? We are looking for a van so recommendation is very useful to us.

Thank you

They are

http://www.tilshead-caravans.com/

They'd sold our caravan from new, got it back & sold it to the next owners & then got it back which is when we saw it, so they have a full history of its ownership & 6 years checkable service history.

They gave us a 6 month warranty & we added another 6 months for a reasonable price. I need to find storage & insurance soon, so better start getting some quotes!
