Some friends have bought an old caravan. They have now got everything working, except the fridge on gas. The ignitor is a red switch which I believe should flash as its trying to ignite the gas but it doesnt light up at all. Any ideas anyone please.
from left to right on mine:
12V switch, red , for when towing.
mains switch, larger and green, turns fridge to mains
mains thermostat.
gas on/off
gas thermostat
gas ignition, red.
to light on gas, make sure the gas supply is on, there may be an isolator in the cupboard next to the fridge.
make sure the 12V is on.
turn the gas on/off to on press and hold.
in the bottom left of the fridge is a spy glass, you need to look straight through this to see the burner.
turn on the ignitor, it should click and flash red.
try for about 30 secs, then turn the gas off and leave for a min, repeat until it light.
dont keep trying for too long, the gas takes a while to get through properly (the fridge uses so little) but may build up to a point it pops quite loudly. when the gas gets through and it lights, keep the knob held in for 10-20 secs and release slowly, it should then stay lit.
I would also urge for the gas system to be serviced, the fridge is a source of problem if left unused for long periods.

If you can tell me the make and model, i'll try and find a manual for you .
its an award daystar1993/94 ish I think. They cannot also find an isolation switch for the gas to the fridge. I have also looked but cannot find it either.
I thought this topic was going to be about the interior light of some fridges. Ours is a purple/blue colour. Someone said to me that it is this violet colour to inhibit the growth of bacteria. Any truth in this?
