When buying a new caravan from Europe, which would be the best way to pay? I am thinking of both security and getting the best exchange rate. I have done this before and took cash(no problems) but this new van is more expensive and we are reluctant to use cash this time.
Hi Anne44, Could use credit card,if you would be over your limit, could deposit mony into the credit account, check with credit card company or bank to see if possible, and it will afford you some kind of come back if any thing goes wrong.

If in Doubt Check it Out.
If you are buying from a dealer then bank transfer, they will give you their Swift code. Your bank will charge a fee(about £15, I think)for £-€ transfer. I guess you could also do a bank transfer to a private seller as well.
Worth asking your bank if you could pay by debit card if buying from a dealer, you can do this for any amount in the UK but I don't know about abroad.
Is it really worth all the hassle of having no warranty on a new caravan? Surely you can buy the same caravan here from a locla dealer with a warranty.
I bought a Burstner using CHAPS electronic transfer, cost £20,no problem and the warranty is the same in the U.K. as on the continent.
It isn't allways possible to purchase the model you want in the U.K. as U.K. dealers only supply a limited range.
