Hi,

I'm wondering just how comfortable the pull out beds are in caravans. I'm not exactly Miss Slim and Trim  so wondered how I would get on on these cushions. Also I'm hoping the bed itself will take mine and my husband's weight!

Any comments greatly appreciated, thanks.

I never found one that was comfy and wouldn't budge now from our fixed bed but then I know many people who find them just fine.

We fell through ours one night we were away!  After we finally stopped laughing we checked out the bunks to discover that they need secured - old caravan and we hadn't had it for long.  Hopefully this year we won't wake the dead with the laughter from our van.

Can only be personal experience and preference - for about the last 4-5 years now, I sleep much better in the van (on a pull-out bed) than at home, where I wake up about every two hours - tried new mattress, sheets, duvet - you name it!

I'm a whoppa of a bloke. My problem is length more than comfort - I'm 6' 3" which means the normal 6 foot 6 length isn't enough.

We had pull out beds in our first caravan, we used to turn them over so they were flat & button free & lay a sleeping bag on top, some people also use memory foam toppers.

We've got a fixed bed now & do prefer a proper mattress but wouldnt say pull out beds were uncomfortable.

Regarding your combined weights you'll be fine, you'll both be lay down & so any weight is spread across a large area of wood.

We bought our Bill last summer - the most beautyfullest newest most fabulous van we've ever owned - so you can imagine how disappointed we were that the bed was so uncomfortable. BUT - I invested in some memory foam toppers - just 1" or 1 1/2" ones - quite cheap from an amazon seller - and they have made such a difference - we were away last weekend and I slept better than I've ever slept in a van.
Oh - and I'm not miss slim either!
